I've read many reviews on this site but have never actually been bothered to sign up to review a film. This film is the one that has made me sign up! Awful is an insult to all the awful movies out there. With a name like 'Kombi Nation' I had a good suspicion that this was going to be one of those pretentious films that advertise a particular lifestyle rather then have a decent production, acting, plot, or cinematography--but I had no idea it was going to be this bad. All the plot development happens at the beginning 10 minutes of the film and there was no character exposition either--probably because all the characters are dull and meaningless. The acting is incredibly bad; You can see them bopping away to pop songs in the car like wiggles.
Don't watch this film.

I saw Kombi Nation in a theatre packed full of smiling faces. There was many a giggle, gasp, chuckle and guffaw as these classic Kiwi characters scandalised their way around Europe. I'm sure we can all relate to the whole OE adventure, whether we've done the trip, are planning on doing it, or know someone who has. It's not only a Kiwi traddition, but also one for Australians, South Africans and even Europeans themselves. Somewhat naive and extremely excited these fresh faced youngsters set off on 'the road trip of a lifetime', expecting to learn all about foreign lands, they learn more about themselves than anything. I won't give away too much of the plot as I recommend you see it for yourselves, but I will say it contains a Kombi van load of sex, lies, drugs and alcohol. Definitely a must to show the kids as a warning before they set off for the other side of the world, and one for granny to see too if she's feeling nostalgic about her youth. Enjoy!
