Sex & Nudity
-
- Sam Rockwell's character hits himself and moans "harder! Harder! I love it!" as a gag on sadism
- A reference to a man wearing a woman's underwear is made.
- Arthur speaks to Trillian while she is showering. She is in a stall and visible from the armpit and up.
- The main characters kiss.
Violence & Gore
-
- No blood or gore. A robot is shot in the head and falls in a dramatic fashion. It is implied that a robot's arm is forcibly removed. A woman is nearly eaten by an off-screen monster of considerable size. An inhabited planet is destroyed in a mere second. A man is comically punched in the face by a concealed third arm. There is one scene where a man vomits, but it is depicted by colored yarn.
- A whale falls to its death from a great height.
Profanity
-
- This movie parodies religion and says God made mistakes in an animated informational sequence at around 15 mins.
- Nothing vulgar mostly confined to "damn" and "ass" if any. There is one use of "oh, bollocks"
- There is, however, several instances of people using the word "Belgium", which in the Hitch-hiker's Guide universe is considered the most offensive word ever.
Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking
-
- The first ten minutes includes adults actively drinking beer and wine. In one scene a man drinks an entire pint at once and does it again later.
- One scene where two men drink fictional cocktails which are said to have the effect of "having your brains smashed out by a slice of lemon wrapped around a large gold brick". Two men go to a bar on Earth; one orders six pints of beer, and the other comments that it's a bit much for before lunchtime.
Frightening & Intense Scenes
-
- The aliens and overall atmosphere of the movie can (sometimes) be slightly bizarre
- This is a pretty friendly movie. There is one scene with an alien that has thousands of tiny legs attached to a human top which could frighten kids. Also a scene where a man gets his second head cut off but it is played for laughs, and depicted in a silouette. Any other things would only be slightly frightening to a 5 yr. old kid and they would have to be very immature at that.

Frightening & Intense Scenes
- The destruction of earth could be intense to some
