Mock's back
6 November 2005 | by Fritz LangloisSee all my reviews

A better looking film than previous Mocky outings. Competent actors (Michael Lonsdale is back with Mocky after their collaborations of more than thirty years ago; a Zardi cameo) and a fairly entertaining story make this a decent effort from a director who sometimes seems to lose his inspiraion. Yet this film doesn't have the edge of many Mocky films, it's more polished and not so acerbic; it's funny but not as powerful as Le Miraculé or A Mort l'Arbitre for example. But it's nice to see JPM back in the theaters after years of near invisibility. And one wishes Villeret would have had more roles in Mocky films (he also co-produced this movie). But this was not to be. So, not a great film, but good to see one of France's most endearing directors back on track. I can't wait for the next ones (4 of them made already, but nowhere to be seen!) Check also Mocky's DVD collection.
