Pat sees in a newspaper that $100,000 is offered for the capture of Villa, dead or alive, so he starts for the border to offer his services to the army. Arriving at El Paso, he is taken for a recruit and placed in the awkward squad. Being hauled up before the general, Pat gets a chance to explain the mistake, and asks that he be made a scout. Fully arming himself and party, he sets out for the interior of Mexico. At night Pat dreams of having Villa surrounded and in his power. Villa dreams of Pat as a sort of superhuman being, who, by merely laughing, can strike men dead. They almost run into each other, before either sees the other. Each beats it for shelter. The only cover available is behind two rocks about a hundred feet apart. Each hides behind a rock, and each begins to shoot at the other.
