Ryan Gosling, Donald Glover and Ezra Miller reportedly top Willy Wonka shortlist

Back in 2016, Warner Bros. announced that it had secured the rights to the Willy Wonka character from the estate of Roald Dahl, with David Heyman set to produce a new movie described as an origin story for the eccentric chocolate factory owner.

Earlier this year, Paddington helmer Paul King signed on to direct the movie, and now it seems the studio is narrowing its search for an actor to take on the role of Willy Wonka, portrayed previously on the big screen by Gene Wilder and Johnny Depp.

According to Collider, the shortlist for the role includes Ryan Gosling (La La Land), Donald Glover (Solo: A Star Wars Story) and Ezra Miller (Justice League). Miller has previously worked with producer David Heyman on Fantastic Beasts, while Glover is apparently “actively chasing” the part. Gosling meanwhile has previously been linked to the project, with a report from July of last year

Shoplifters Review – Cannes 2018

  • HeyUGuys
Hirokazu Kore-eda is a regular at the Cannes Film Festival, with many of his gems screening here over the years. So would Shoplifters live up to our expectations? Abso-blinking-lutely.

The story revolves around a family of grifters, using their ingenuity and thieving skills to make ends meet. Dad is Osamu Shibata (long-time Kore-eda collaborator Lily Franky), a loveable rogue who combines working on a building site with shoplifting to provide for his family. There’s his wife Nobuyo (Sakura Ando), her sister Aki (Mayu Matsuoka), Granny and the couple’s son Shota (Jyo Kairi). They live piled on top of one another in Granny’s minuscule apartment, and are like a criminal version of the Bucket family in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, as beds are shared and cabbage soup is slurped. Like the Buckets, there is much love and tenderness between the family members despite the cramped conditions and frugal means.

Funny or Die is out to fool a lot of people it seems and it’s managed to entertain a lot as well. The Gobstopper trailer might have made a lot of folks think that Christopher Lloyd has gone around the bend in this horrifying version of Willy Wonka gone extremely dark. It’s almost like a version of Hostel meets Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Seriously, even the the obnoxious guy talking about his hard-on is pure horror schlock. There’s always the group that’s going out somewhere for a camping trip or a vacation or something, and the majority of them

Is George Weasley Actually Willy Wonka? This Bonkers Theory Is Really Convincing

Brace yourself: George Weasley may have grown up to be the King of Chocolate, Willy Wonka himself.

The idea of these two magical universes converging in some way is enough to make our 10-year-old hearts swoon (and our 20-, 30-, and 40-year-old hearts, too)! Though I'm ultimately a Harry Potter fan, it was Roald Dahl's books, especially Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, that honed my love for magical, imaginative storylines. If you're a fan of both as well, it's hard not to notice similarities in the various stories. Of all the fan fiction and fan theories out there, this one is so lighthearted and gives an inkling of hope for George Weasley, whom we know suffered one of the greatest losses of them all when his twin brother Fred died at the Battle of Hogwarts.

Consider: George drops out of Hogwarts with Fred (then under the terrible control of

Warner Bros. is Developing a Beetlejuice Musical For Broadway

The classic 1988 Tim Burton film Beetlejuice is now being adapted into a Broadway musical by Warner Bros. Theater Ventures. I don't recall anyone asking for a Beetlejuice musical, but it's happening and it will make its world premiere at the National Theatre in Washington, D.C. in October.

I love the movie Beetlejuice, but I'm not sure what to think about it being turned into a musical. The music and lyrics come from Eddie Perfect, the Australian actor-writer-composer who’s also working on the musical version of King Kong. The musical is also being developed by Scott Brown and Anthony King (Broad City), director Alex Timbers (Rocky, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson) and choreography by Connor Gallagher (The Robber Bridegroom).

They also brought on the design team behind The Lion King to work on the puppets, sets, and costumes that will be used in the Beetlejuice musical. So, at least we
