Sex & Nudity

  • No nudity. Safe for children.
  • A character is almost always nude with strategically placed hair.
  • Jaguara wears clothing that exposes much cleavage.
  • One character is a bit of a playboy. He is seen dreaming of being kissed by many female wolves.
  • Hige tells Blue that he always has to pee whenever he's in the mood. (Meant to be a joke)
  • Some kisses among couples. Nothing big, though.

Violence & Gore

  • Many fights amongst creatures. Some are rather graphic with a lot of blood.
  • A man shoots another man through the mouth. Shot occurs offscreen, but the blood splatter is shown in a lingering shot.
  • People are seen being mauled by wolves, mostly offscreen, but blood is still present.
  • A fight between wolves and a walrus occurs late in the series. VERY BLOODY AND INTENSE.
  • Many characters die in this series. Some rather graphically.

  • Uses of hell, damn, ass, piss, bastard, Used rather aggressively on occasion.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Characters drink and smoke. Sometimes casually, sometimes excessively. Drunken behavior is shown at times. The character Quent is an alcoholic who drinks to cope with his losses.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • This show is VERY INTENSE. There is a lot of violence, and a lot of emotion.
  • The music really adds to the tone of the show.
  • The walrus fight is intense.
  • An owl who is hinted as possibly being a spectre appears randomly in various episodes. It's voice and manner of speech may spook some viewers.
  • The last couple episoodes are famous (infamous) for making vierwers cry.
  • Final thought: Great show. Beautifully done, and very entertaining. However, use caution when allowing children to watch this. It gets very bloody, and very sad. Truths are revealed about characters that may change opinions drastically. In other words, if the violence isn't an issue for kids, then this show can be easily handled by them.

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Violence & Gore

  • A woman is seen crucified with nails in hands. She is still alive, however.
  • A man falls off a cliff. His broken body is seen later and the camera lingers as he slowly dies.
  • Two characters get shot. One jumps in front of the other in defenese. They both die together. Very sad.
  • A character asks a friend to euthanize him as a last request. The friend does so and bites the character on his neck.
  • A woman turns into a tree in a rather agonizing way, thus marking the end of her life. She is then bitten by a wolf and bleeds green ooze.
  • Two wolves battle to the death. The bite and tear at eachother. Much blood and signs of broken bones present. Battle ends with a wolf exploding. His eyeball is seen floating in a lake just before it freezes over.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Everybody dies in this show. Either on screen, or as a result of an apocalypse that happens near the end of the series.
  • The deaths of Toboe and Quent are VERY SAD. Perhaps the saddest death scene in the series.
  • The final battle between Kiba and Darcia is bloody, and rather intense as they are fighting to the death and many injuries are sustained.
  • The ending of the series is rather surreal and will likely leave the viewer confused.
