Amazon Prime Video New Releases: December 2020

Amazon Prime Video New Releases: December 2020
As a most unusual holiday season begins, it’s going to be harder for streaming services to demand our attention. With its new releases for December 2020, Amazon Prime is trying its best anyway.

This is actually an uncommonly jam-packed and intriguing roster of content for Bezos’s outfit. The list this month is highlighted by the release of The Expanse season 5 on Dec. 16. The beloved sci-fi series made the jump from Syfy to Amazon last year and things went well enough that it’s coming back for more. That returning show is complemented by another new genre series. The Wilds premieres on Dec. 11 and will follows a group of teenage girls lost (or Lost) on a deserted island.

Amazon’s original movies in December are just as intriguing. Riz Ahmed plays a heavy metal drummer losing his hearing in Sound of Metal on Dec. 4. Rachel Brosnahan stars as a mother

HBO Max Wades Into the ‘Is ‘Die Hard’ a Christmas Movie?’ Debate

HBO Max Wades Into the ‘Is ‘Die Hard’ a Christmas Movie?’ Debate
HBO Max is throwing its hat into one of the longest-running debates in Hollywood: Is “Die Hard” a Christmas movie? — by trying to delicately find a middle ground.

The streaming service is rolling out a “Holiday Wonderland” page that lists all of its Christmas-themed and Christmas-adjacent movies and TV shows. Guess where “Die Hard” (and its sequel) fell.

As you can see below, HBO Max puts “Die Hard,” “Die Hard 2” and “Lethal Weapon” in a list that includes “Shazam” and “A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas” as films that “have just the right amount of spirit.” We’re not sure what precludes “Harold & Kumar” from being a de facto Christmas movie, but this list features movies that take place around Christmastime, even if they don’t fully lean into the holiday festivities.

The argument over whether “Die Hard” should be considered a Christmas movie stems from the fact

Amazon Prime Announces Over 80 New Movies/TV Shows For December
Hard as it is to believe with everything going on right now, but Christmas is only about five weeks away, and the streaming market is already looking crowded. Although Netflix can probably expect to continue their dominance over subscribers through the end of 2020, Amazon Prime are releasing some notable titles for the last month of the year, including original films like I’m Your Woman and new episodes of The Expanse.

In terms of the former, it stars Rachel Brosnahan of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel in a picture about a woman who has to go on the run after her husband gets into trouble with his business partner. We’ll also be seeing the much-anticipated Sound of Metal, which features Riz Ahmed as a heavy metal drummer who develops hearing loss. This one will receive a limited theatrical release before heading to Amazon on December 4th. And elsewhere, viewers can expect

Harold & Kumar 4 May Go to Outer Space Teases a Hopeful Kal Penn

Harold & Kumar 4 May Go to Outer Space Teases a Hopeful Kal Penn
It's probably just a matter of time until we see Harold and Kumar 4, and franchise star Kal Penn thinks the inevitable sequel should send the two stoners to outer space. In 2004, Penn began playing Kumar alongside John Cho as Harold in the first movie of the series, Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle. The stoner comedy was a surprise hit, spawning a movie franchise that's still ongoing with both Penn and Cho interested in returning for a fourth installment.

When asked if he had high hopes for a fourth Harold & Kumar movie and where he'd like to see them go next, Kal Penn had this to say.

"Helllll yes! Oh man, look, all my tattoos are astronomy-related, so I kinda like the idea of going to the space station."

Penn goes on to explain that the biggest roadblock in getting the sequel made will be scheduling, as everyone

Harold & Kumar Star Wants The Fourth Movie To Go To Outer Space

Harold & Kumar Star Wants The Fourth Movie To Go To Outer Space
The three entries in the Harold & Kumar franchise may not have done particularly massive business at the box office, with none of the movies managing to even crack $50 million globally, but they remain firm cult favorites. Far from appealing entirely to the stoner crowd, the title duo’s adventures are also surprisingly heartfelt comedies that deal with issues like parental pressure, growing up and then growing apart, although there’s no shortage of gross-out humor, either.

Harold and Kumar’s big screen adventures have also received widespread enthusiasm from critics, and the series holds average scores of 65% on Rotten Tomatoes and 57 on Metacritic – solid numbers for a comedic trilogy. 2011′s A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas even put a fresh spin on the formula by both mocking and utilizing the third dimension, and has since ascended to the status of an underrated holiday favorite.

Even though almost a decade

Hulu New Releases: September 2020

Hulu New Releases: September 2020
As one of the weirder “back to school” seasons in living memory rolls out, Hulu is heading back to school in its own way for September 2020.

The biggest Hulu original arriving to the streaming services stream this month is season 2 of coming-of-age comedy Pen15…which of course stars two adults who have already come of age playing their middle school selves.

Speaking of middle school, perhaps the biggest non-original addition to the Hulu library this month is the arrival of all The Twilight Saga movies on September 1. That should prove to be a real nostalgia trip for interested parties. Other library titles of note include Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle, The Terminator, and 2019’s Judy on September 25.

Bookending Hulu’s originals this month is another intriguing comedy, Woke. This series will star Lamorne Morris as a Black cartoonist who gets an unexpected wakeup call.
