‘The Later Years 1987-2019’ Chronicles Pink Floyd After it Became David Gilmour’s Show

Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour dynasty started inauspiciously in 1981 when the singer and guitarist re-recorded every note of “Money” by himself, save the sax solo, for the compilation A Collection of Great Dance Songs. At the time, he just did what he needed to do; the band’s new record label couldn’t get the rights to the original Dark Side of the Moon hit so he recut it himself, no other Floyds necessary. Two years later, Roger Waters would resume control and oversee the group’s next LP, The Final Cut,

‘Apocalypse Now: Final Cut’: Coppola’s Surreal Vietnam Epic Returns
About a mile out, the man says, they’ll put on the music. The kid looks confused: music? Just a classical piece — the boys love it. “Put on ‘Psywar Op,’ ” he barks into his headset. “Make it loud.”

The reel-to-reel starts up. Wagner’s “Ride of the Valkyries,” from the German composer’s Ring of the Nibelung opera, begins playing over loudspeakers. The soldiers look around, confused and bemused. The camera keeps shooting a group of helicopters, already in attack formation, from below — you’d think they were prehistoric birds of prey.

Pink Floyd Members Reunite: Roger Waters Joins Nick Mason on Stage in NYC

Mike Cecchini Apr 19, 2019

Roger Waters joined Nick Mason on stage in New York City for a rendition of a Pink Floyd classic.

Pink Floyd fans attending the Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets concert at New York City's Beacon Theater got an unexpected surprise on Thursday night, when another founding member of the legendary psychedelic rock band appeared on stage: Roger Waters. Waters, who was Pink Floyd's bassist, vocalist, and one of the band's chief songwriters during its first 20 years, rarely makes guest appearances at other Floyd side projects, but joined Mason's new band to provide vocals (and gong) on "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun" from 1968.

While Pink Floyd frontmen David Gilmour and Roger Waters have had lucrative solo careers over the last few decades, Nick Mason's public appearances as a drummer have been incredibly sparse. Last year, the drummer announced the formation of Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets,

For the story behind the genesis of the Canon, you can click here.

Minority Report (2002)

Director: Steven Spielberg

Screenplay: Scott Frank and Jon Cohen based on the short story by Philip K. Dick

You hardly ever hear it brought up even among Steven Spielberg‘s best but it’s now abundantly clear that ‘Minority Report‘ is truly among his best films. I’m not quite sure why it took so long though. I’ve always regarded it that highly but it split some critics originally and was mostly shutout when it came to award season, only getting an Oscar nomination for the Sound Editing. I think the

There's a 4-Hour Cut of Blade Runner 2049, But We'll Never See It
Yes, a four-hour cut of Blade Runner 2049 does exist but no, we're never going to see it. Director Denis Villeneuve has confirmed that the initial cut of the sequel did clock in at a crazy four hours in length, but he says that version of the movie never was considered for release. Here's what he had to say about it in a recent interview.

"[Laughs] No. The thing is, it's true that the first cut was four hours and at one point we were like, 'Okay, do we go to the producer and release it in two?' But let's say the idea of the movie being in two parts didn't get out of the editing room. [Laughs] No, the best incarnation of the movie is what is in the theater. What was striking is that the four-hour cut was quite strong. But personally I prefer the one that is in
