cute and funny!
pri_e9 July 2004
I cannot believe that the ABC cancelled this show because I think its fantastic, the whole cast give such a great performance and I love the concept of the lawyer/match maker. Who could not fall in love with the story of Kate and Michael?! I was really surprised when I heard that the show was put on hiatus after 11 episodes because seriously there are some U.S shows which should have been put on permanent hiatus a long, long time ago (hint..charmed). If the ABC had any kind of entertainment sense and value they would re-instate the show.

Alicia Silverstone does a really good job in this show ans I love the chemistry she had with David Conrad

Perfeclty matched in every way...WHY WAS THIS CANCELLED?
SajeevaS15 March 2005
It is usually these unique shows that stand out - a story and plot which no one has ever witnessed will always be captivating, attention gaining and a ratings hit. Well it seems that this show failed to achieve these traits as it was cancelled just after one season. Alicia Silverstone is just brilliant -her character Kate Fox - coincidently quite similar but mature to the Cher Horowitz she played 8 years prior to this show, is not an every show character, and it was played to perfection - a well deserved Golden Globe Nomination. I guess it was just quite a crime to cancel this - all it needed was a few more seasons and the character 'Kate Fox' would have created icon status.

Miss Match is a great show!!
hellojenni15 May 2004
Miss Match is a humorous, dramatic, relatable and all around likeable show. If you haven't seen the episodes that aired from September to December you have definetely missed out. Miss Match is the story of Kate Fox (played by Alicia Silverstone) a young divorce attorney who moonlights as a match maker. She practices law at her father's(played by Ryan O'Neil) law office. Kate and her fellow divorce lawyer, Nick (played by James Roday)bump heads and are always differ on opinions on cases they work on. Kate is best friends with Victoria, (played by Lake Bell) a bartender. Then, there's Michael,(played by David Conrad) the guy who Kate may or may not end up with. Every episode Kate is asked by different individuals, all in different situations to match themselves or someone close to them with a suitable partner. A few examples are: A woman asks Kate to find a match for her fiancee' to make sure that he really does want to get married to her, since she is the only woman he has ever dated. A mother asks Kate to find a match for her daughter who is gay. A woman from India asks Kate to find a match for her according to her astrological sign before she is forced to have an arranged marriage by her parents. Plus, we have the ups and downs of Kate's personal relationships with men, her parents, her clients, her coworkers and friends. The title song of Miss Match is nicely sung by Macy Gray. All in all this show is a must see on NBC!! Unfortunately not enough people have tuned in to see Miss Match. It has not been on the air since December.

It has not been officially cancelled but there is no return date scheduled at this time. Hopefully, NBC will bring it back this summer with the remainder episodes and new episodes in the fall. If you haven's seen Miss Match please give it a chance. If you liked Alicia Silverstone in Clueless, you will love this!!

si_madam12 July 2005
Its funny..i just finished watching the last episode of season 1 and went to the net to check season 2... 'DING'... did not find anything... Whaaa?? it was canceled... I was devastated... its my favorite show! Alicia did good, so as the other cast member. I don't understand? the story is good, funny and refreshing and light, heck i'm just sooo bored with reality blablabla shows...

If u haven't watch this show, GO watch it! and u will know what I mean... it is really good... I often find my self smiling while watching 'Kate'

so is this really the end?

Light and fun
gleywong27 September 2003
Miss Match is light and fun, and touches just enough on serious themes (like fear of being alone) so the show isn't entirely superficial. Alicia Silverstone is very appealing and likable. Some of the supporting cast is a bit weak, but overall the show is surprisingly good.

Hit Match!!
fuk_yeee6 March 2004
Kate Fox, a divorce attorny who dabbles in matchmaking couples on the side (how controversial and so not cliche), the show is absolutely great and what a better lead than Alicia Silverstone, who is a great actress. The show always has something fun, new and exciting to offer the viewers and with recent special guest stars such as Charisma Carpenter the show just offers a new spice to the dull, boring shows which can run for many seasons. Give the show a chance Darren Star is a great creator of such shows as Sex and the city and Beverly Hills "90210"! Watch it as Alicia brings a lot of laughs to the table with her funny girlish screams and limericks, PURE ENTERTAINMENT!

Alicia Silverstone shines as Miss Match
dcookoo-12 June 2006
I first come across this TV series when they were showing morning repeats in the summer, on channel 4. I always thought Alicia Silverstone was an amazing actress and movie personality, i loved her role in "clueless" and "the crush", i honestly thought i would not like this sort of TV series, but i found that it is warm, charming, funny and light-hearted. i found myself getting up early to watch it every morning i thought Alica Silverstone was so cute and right for the role, i hope they make a second season, as i come to find "Miss Match" is a match made in heaven. Amazing laughter and feel-good moments through out the series gave the show a touch of Sophistication, i really enjoyed watching the show and i believe it's just one of a kind.

hopefully people will tune
franciscoflores3344 November 2003
I have to say I'm impressed by this show, it's not dumb at all and I think is the best new comedy of the year, hopefully people will tune and it won't get canceled. The performances are great, specially Alicia Sylverstone who I think is one of the most beautiful woman in the planet. a great show, fun, light and still deep.

Not a match made in heaven.
Victor Field6 March 2004
When "Miss Match" premiered in America, the smart money was on the series defeating its freshman competition "Joan of Arcadia" - with Alicia Silverstone back in good-hearted romantic mode and Darren Star behind the scenes, it couldn't fail up against the more dubious-sounding premise of a troubled teenage girl who has conversations with God. (LivingTV certainly seems to think so; they've bought both shows, but "Miss Match" is now airing weekly in prime time whereas "Joan of Arcadia" will be airing in June, stripped across weekday afternoons a la "Everwood.") Flashforward to March, and Amber Tamblyn's series has not only clobbered it in the Stateside ratings but also already secured a second year; unfortunately it's all too easy to see why.

It's refreshing to see something from Darren Star that isn't flavoured "bitter" - unlike "Sex and the City" and the dreadful "The $treet," this series benefits from having a lead character you don't want to kill, although the once and forever Cher Horovitz suffers from having a supporting cast that, apart from Lake Bell as her sexy single bartender friend, could either be better used (especially Ryan O'Neal as her more traditionally lawyer-ish dad) or just plain better (most of the others). Sweet-tempered though it is, it's not funny or dramatic enough to really work; and how much mileage can the writers really get from the lawyer-to-all-and-better-at-other-matches-than-her-own thing? (Then again, look how long "Three's Company" ran with just one plot.)

Easy to watch, and Alicia is as adorable as ever (though admit it, it's her friend who should be really beating them off), but I wouldn't get attached to it. Still, at least it's better than "Braceface." And "Sex and the City." And, in the case of Ryan O'Neal, infinitely better than "Love Story."

Fun, Clueless: 10 Years Later
jmatrixrenegade27 September 2003
This show is sort of what "Clueless" would be like ten years after ... after all Cher was the lovable/cute daughter of a lawyer, had the potential to be one in her own right, and was the master of matchmaking (while not being as lucky in love herself).

Kate is a lovable/cute daughter of a lawyer, in fact she is a (divorce) lawyer herself (in her dad's firm), has a gift for matchmaking (thus the title), but is not as lucky in love herself. Ryan O'Neal plays her womanizing dad. And, the show will likely have various guest stars with stories to tell and matches to be made.

The first episode was promising ... fun, romantic, and cute. Kate doesn't quite get the cynical world of divorce attorneys, which might get a bit annoying, since this is a bit clueless, isn't it? Still, especially given its core competition ("Joan of Arcadia"), the show has charm to spare, and Alicia Silverstone is great in the lead. Why not? She played this character already in her best role, Cher is "Clueless." And, though some might compare the two, she seems a bit more together than Ally McBeal.

I don't know how it will holdup (especially given it's hour length) over the long haul, but I'm routing for this show.

Incredibly Entertaining!
edithadc4 August 2008
Just saw the whole season (except 1 episode) - absolutely loved it! It's such a shame they didn't pick it up. Was done 5 years ago but does not seem dated at all. Whilst I agree that towards the end the stories were getting a little tired, possibly redundant, it's still so much more entertaining than newer dramedy shows we have today that actually get picked up for a second season! Alicia was just great. She lights up every scene that she's in and brings a very refreshing feel to the whole show. Great support as well - Lake Bell, Ryan O'Neal, even David Conrad and James Roday - the characters were great, some more developed than others. Even the guest stars were great - charisma Carpenter of Buffy/Angel fame! Every one held their own.

I miss 'Miss Match'!!!
erico_suave_00729 August 2006
I, like many on IMDb, was shocked and severely disappointed when this excellent, and ultimately TV-too-good-for-TV show was cancelled by NBC. However, I am thankful for 2 things: First-I was smart enough to tape each episode (on ep mode however) because Alicia is my most FAVORITE actress and my #1 crush since I was 13, and Second-the W network here in Canada is airing the entire series run, including the originally unaired episodes. Now that I have a PVR and a DVD burner, I plan to digitally record each episode, chuck my old cassettes, and have the next-best-thing to an official release. I just watched an episode for the first time in a while and I am pleasantly reminded how cool, breezy and sexy the show was. I would love to see it turned into a movie with the original cast returning. That would be great!

I love this show and hope it sticks around for a while.
JULIA-COOPMAN8 April 2004
I live in the United Kingdom and I love this show, they started showing it a month or so ago. It has replaced Sex in the City for me as in terms of a show you just have to watch! I love the main flow of the show, not to much match making and her job balances that out quite perfectly I think. Very good actors and a new plot each show, I have not been disappointed yet. Silverstone has matured a lot as an actor since clueless or crush and I believe that now hopefully she can get into some better movies. In my opinion she is a wonderful actress that has just not taken the best roles that she could. I really hope that the show stays on for a long time to come.

My feel of Miss Match
mcasa716 June 2006
I just want to say 1st off that I liked the show very much. My fiancé is a t.v. nut, and since she got the tivo (not she's got the comcast dvr,) she records every episode of her favorite shows. I will say at first I thought it was a little low budget, but I got into it pretty quick and was really disappointed when we found out it was canceled, and the worst part is that we had no way of knowing what was going on with it for quite a while... hopefully it will get put back on... I hadn't heard much about Alicia before the show aired, and I will say that I was definitely impressed... she was one of my teen heart throbbs and I hope to see more of her soon.

Sticky Sweet Disappointment
pattay7223 February 2004
I had high hopes for this little comedy, but it is terrible! The whole thing makes me uncomfortable. It takes place in some weird alternative gum drop sticky sweet universe. The dialogue is lame and stilted. There is no character development. We never know who Kate really is. She is one dimensional at best - afraid to show anything less than weird Hello Kitty perfection. I am suffering from sugar intoxication. I am disappointed.

Doesn't make a Match for Me.
lambiepie-29 November 2003
Gee..I had such hopes for this but after watching it a few times..how gosh-awful can you get? Sure this is sugar sweet and gosh its so nice a lawyer (give me a break, without a retainer?!?!?) is helping others in love..(and cannot help herself) but as a series week after week?!?!? No way. Honestly, who would take love advice from a divorced attorney these days? Really.

I think this would have made a nice little movie, on LifeTime Network between the Tori Spelling Films and Meredith Baxter-Birney ones. This show made me yawn and is headed for cancel city. I personally think many of the critics wanted this to work for Miss Silverstone, but I've got news for ya, her 15 minutes was up 13 minutes ago and I think she should begin looking for "other projects". I love Ryan O'Neal in this..its a shame he's quite overlooked and really hasn't much of a stretch to do.

Good luck, this show and its star will definately need it.

another hot girl can't find a man sitcom
SnoopyStyle6 September 2013
Kate Fox (Alicia Silverstone) is a matrimonial attorney who accidentally becomes a matchmaker. Lake Bell plays her best friend, and Ryan O'Neal plays her disapproving father.

I love both Alicia Silverstone and Lake Bell. They always seem to me to be really smart girls who could play dumb. This is simply yet another traditional hot-single-girl-who-can't-keep-a-man sitcom. Although I found the characters likable, I can't help but feel that they were too superficial. I guess they were trying to keep the L.A. feel.

Quietly cancelled
bcolquho16 December 2004
Warning: Spoilers
I must admit I loved this show. The concept and the premise were sound. Kate Fox, (Alicia Silverstone, like the frying pan coating,) is a successful divorce lawyer who works at her father's law firm. Her father's also a divorce whose many affairs broke up his marriage to Kate's mother. So what does Kate do in her downtime? She sets people up for marriage. In short, she's a highly successful matchmaker whose private life went to hell in a handbasket in the first episode. What went wrong? I have no idea. NBC, the network it was on, pre- empted it with expanded versions of Dateline. After the last episode, it was taken off the air and never returned. Friday nights are usually bad for the networks because most people are going out to the movies on Friday nights, Nobody's staying home anymore. Except the desperate and dateless___I'm in that category. In the first episode, we see Kate coming out of court. She's talking to her boyfriend on her cell phone. Her boyfriend has so many plans for them. Among them a nice romantic weekend for two in Hawaii. She's racing to her car. She's still talking on her cell phone. She gets in, starts the car, pulls out onto the freeway, (not highway, in California, you don't pay tolls before getting on.) All the time she's still on her cell phone. She's still talking to her boyfriend. Then she decides to change for her first wedding. Two of the people she set up are getting married and she's the maid of honor. So she changes, all the while still driving her car, into the dress she's wearing as maid of honor. Her best friend is a bartender at the restaurant where she hangs out and sets up her clients. The next morning Kate's boyfriend wants them to get to the airport early so they won't miss their flight to Hawaii. He made the reservations without telling her. She takes her suitcase and cosmetic bag out of the trunk and tells him to go to Hawaii by himself. In the last episode, she was going to have a nice romantic weekend up the coast with her current boyfriend but he was at the hotel they were going to spend the weekend in with his ex-girlfriend. It deserves a second season. It didn't deserve the fate it got.

I Lived for this Show!
rachel-33428 December 2005
I was puzzled, as well, as to why this show was canceled. Alicia Silverstone was brilliant. The writing was brilliant. There was chemistry. It was a light romantic comedy/drama, which I have yet to see its' like and it was one of my weekly "must see" shows. I wonder, do the people who cancel shows realize the actual heartbreak that occurs whenever the show is just dropped from the planet. Well, bygones be bygones. I am curious as to what happens! You know that the writer had to see the story played out in his mind...has he revealed such things via a book, magazines, commentaries or anything. If so, please let me know, and I'll be the first in line to read it!

Adorable little chick flick series.
m-4782618 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Considering how the series ends, with the heroine opening a new chapter in her life, we can all assume the story can be rebooted at any moment. Unfortunately it never was, but it didn't end on a cliffhanger either, which is why the show can still be seen as a mini-series. Darren Starr, the David E. Kelley of 90s soap, before Shonda Rhimes stole both their styles, and called it her own. Produced the show, and it shows (...). It was a mix of all his previous work, only not as dramatic and with the early 2000s aesthetic and casting call (I could've done without some of the « guests », though...). Alicia Silverstone was a great choice for the lead, I even imagine Kate Fox being her character on Clueless, after years of studying law (Cher Horowitz wanted to become a lawyer, just like her father too...). And really, the lip twitch don't lie... I guess NBC was scared of losing their viewership, since Friends was ending the same year, so they doubled up the amount of shows more in tune with its demographics. And I appreciated the gesture, which is why this and Las Vegas are to this day, two of my favorite new shows of 2003. Unfortunately, Silverstone's 90s hit girl charm didn't cut it, and « Miss Match » was pulled off the air, before finishing its run. Maybe people thought it was too similar to Ally McBeal, or SATC even too. I don't know, but those who love these titles, will surely love this one too. And be reminded how shows could be socially aware, without falling into antagonistic speech. Check it on YouTube.

ARGHHH no what were they thinking!
georgina-1327 January 2005
Warning: Spoilers
I loved that show. I was waiting to see when it was next on and then nothing. I thought it was great, great actors and the weekly stories were just great escapism and funny too. The music was fab and it was something I looked forward to every week. I think ABC were sorely mistaken when they cancelled this, it should have had at least another season to see where it would go. Plenty of shows had more than one season that have not been worth watching. I totally agree with the previous comments. What a great shame. The idea of the matchmaker was a new concept alongside the whole lawyer thing and was good fun to watch. Even my boyfriend got into it. Although maybe Alicia Silverstone had something to do with that.
