All American Trailer: The CW's Answer to Friday Night Lights?

All American looks like a show that was made for a premium cable network like HBO.

The series does not look like The CW would usually air, and that's a good thing.

Of course, it has the adolescent teenagers, but it also has a string of exciting plots.

The official logline reads:

When a rising high school football player from South Central L.A. is recruited to play for Beverly Hills High, the wins, losses and struggles of two families from vastly different worlds — Compton and Beverly Hills — begin to collide. Inspired by the life of pro football player Spencer Paysinger.

The cast includes Daniel Ezra, Taye Diggs, Samantha Logan, Bre-z, Greta Onieogou, Monet Mazur, Michael Evans Behling, Cody Christian and Karimah Westbrook.

If you're a fan of either Friday Night Lights, The O.C. or 90210, then we're sure this show is going to be one of the ones you

Josh Schwartz is finally getting John Green’s “Looking For Alaska” off the page and onto the screen.

Hulu is in the midst of closing a deal with Schwartz and Stephanie Savage’s Fake Empire and Paramount Television for an eight-episode limited series based on the book, insiders with knowledge of the project tell TheWrap.

The O.C.” producer, who has been working to adapt Green’s best-selling young adult novel for over a decade, penned the pilot and will serve as executive producer and showrunner. Green, Jessica Tuchinsky, Mark Waters and Marty Bowen of Temple Hill will also executive produce, along with Fake Empire’s Lis Rowinski as co-executive produce.

“Looking for Alaska” is told through the perspective of teen Miles “Pudge” Halter, as he enrolls in a boarding school to try to gain a deeper understanding of life. He meets Alaska Young, a student who he falls in love with while she guides him through his personal “labyrinth of suffering” throughout the school year. When Alaska unexpectedly dies, Miles must work through his grief as he and his other close friends work to uncover the truth behind Alaska’s death.

The project has gone through many incarnations since Schwartz first received the then-unpublished manuscript for “The Fault in Our Stars” author’s debut novel in 2005, with former Paramount Pictures boss Gail Berman originally purchasing the rights for Schwartz to write and potentially direct a feature and Paramount TV president Amy Powell helping to move the project from the feature division to TV.

The limited series marks Schwartz and Savage’s second project at the streaming service, along with “Marvel’s Runaways,” which was renewed for a Season 2.

17 Most Shocking TV Finale Deaths Ranked, From Omg to Wtf? (Photos)

17 Most Shocking TV Finale Deaths Ranked, From Omg to Wtf? (Photos)
Dr. Robert Ford (Anthony Hopkins), “Westworld”: The co-creator of the show’s titular theme park died at the hand of Dolores Abernathy (Evan Rachel Wood) in the final moments of Season 1. The host shooting him in the back of the head at a party was shocking enough — but it gave fans even more of a jolt to know he planned the whole thing.

Eddard Stark (Sean Bean), “Game of Thrones”: Fans of the book saw Ned’s death coming from a mile away, but viewers tuning in for the end of the HBO fantasy series first season may not have been prepared to see him beheaded. Actually, we don’t think anyone was ready for that, books or no books.

Dan Conner (John Goodman), “Roseanne”: Ok, Dan really shouldn’t be on this list — anymore. But because his death was such a big shock when it was revealed in the original series finale, it makes the cut. Even though it was all shrugged off when the revival hit ABC earlier this year.

Marissa Cooper (Mischa Barton), “The O.C.”: Marissa was a hot mess by the time her life was cut short at the end of Season 3 of this Fox teen soap. However, she was just about to go live with her dad and turn her life around. So when she died in Ryan’s (Ben McKenzie) arm’s after a car crash, we started listening to “Forever Young” in tribute and haven’t stopped since.

Jen Lindley (Michelle Williams), “Dawson’s Creek”: Someone had to die in the series finale of this WB teen drama, because it was a WB teen drama. But it didn’t have to be Jen did it?!? Yeah, moving into the future to reveal that Jen was a mother to a one-year-old and then killing her of all in one episode was just a bit too much, even for those cynical at heart like Jen herself.

Criminal Minds Showrunner Q&A: The Surprising Finale, the Show's Future and More!

Criminal Minds, CBS's second-longest-running series behind NCIS, will have a two-hour finale starting at 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 18.

The real mystery is whether the finale will be only for Season 13 or for the series itself, as CBS has continued its pattern of waiting until the last second to decide whether or not to renew the veteran procedural.

Erica Messer, executive producer, and showrunner has been with Criminal Minds since its beginning in 2005.

Previously a writer on series such as Alias, Charmed, and The O.C., Messer also served as executive producer and showrunner for the spinoff Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders for its two seasons.

Taking time out from developing programming at her Erica Messer Productions company, Messer talked all things Criminal Minds, including its finale and possible future.

Give us an overview of what’s going to happen in Wednesday’s two episodes.

Turkey Experiences Its Own Wave of Peak TV

It seems the only way to try to stop the spread of Turkish TV dramas around the world is to pull them off the airwaves. But even that is not likely to work.

The country’s TV sector continues to expand its global footprint with annual exports now exceeding $350 million, according to the Turkish government, and ambitions to cross the $1 billion mark over the next five years.

The latest major territory magnetized by Turkish skeins is Spain, where female empowerment megahit “Fatmagul” has rapidly become a blockbuster after launching in January. It is paving the way for possible penetration on
