Bet White House Drama The Oval Is Tyler Perry's Most Insane Creation Yet
Here’s a sentence you probably weren’t expecting to read today: Tyler Perry‘s latest drama series about the White House is even crazier than his last one.

Three years after enchanting us with TLC’s short-lived Too Close to Home — which began as a drama about a young woman caught having an affair with the President of the United States, then pivoted to being mostly about incest — Perry is back with Bet’s The Oval, an over-the-top soap chronicling the deranged shenanigans of a newly inaugurated Potus and his certifiable family. (Here’s hoping this show stays on

Michael Keaton movies: 16 greatest films, ranked worst to best, include ‘Birdman,’ ‘Beetlejuice,’ ‘Batman’
Michael Keaton, who celebrates his 66th birthday on September 5, got his start as a production assistant for a fellow Pittsburgh native, PBS kid-show host Fred Rogers. His film career took off in the 1980s in a series of era-defining popular comedies such as “Mr. Mom” before hitting the jackpot when Tim Burton recruited him as his Caped Crusader in 1989’s“Batman.” Keaton would lose some of his fast-talker mojo when he got mired in family fluff such as “Herbie: Fully Loaded,” “Jack Frost” and “First Daughter.”

But in the past decade or so, he has become quite the esteemed actor. Keaton soared to Academy-Award-nominated anxiety-riddled heights in Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s “Birdman” in 2014. He also stood out as the editor in charge of the Pulitzer-winning journalism team that exposed the Catholic Church’s child sex-abuse scandal in 2015’s Best Picture Oscar victor, “Spotlight.” This unique performer continues to be in demand.

Samantha Bee Says She Regrets Using ‘C–t’ As a Slur: ‘I Never Intended To Hurt Anyone Except Ted Cruz’ — Watch
Samantha Bee opened Wednesday night’s “Full Frontal with Samantha Bee” by offering up another apology for calling Ivanka Trump a “feckless c–t” on last week’s show. But the TBS host also expressed frustration that the media spent the week focused on that slur, rather than on the subject of migrant children being ripped from their families.

Before joking that she was “sorry for breaking America,” Bee appeared in a cold open with this statement (full video is below):

“A lot of people were offended and angry I used an epithet to describe the president’s daughter and advisor last week. It is a word I have used on the show many times, hoping to reclaim it. This time I used it as an insult. I crossed the line, I regret it and I do apologize for that.

“The problem is that many women have heard that

Kathy Griffin Steals ‘Make America Great-a-Thon: A President Show Special’
Kathy Griffin made her U.S. TV comeback performing Kellyanne Conway’s Greatest Hits in The President Show’s Make America Great-a-Thon special.

The President Show’s Donald Trump, aka series creator/Ep Anthony Atamunuik, introduced her as “the cockroach of my administration” and “the lone survivor of the Bowling Green Massacre” – a nod to that time she talked on camera to media about that tragic non-existent mass shooting.

Comedy Central had announced a week ago the comic would appear as trusted presidential counselor Conway on the special, in which Trump hosts a telethon to raise money for all the projects he can’t get Congress to fund – like The Wall.

Introducing her to telethon viewers, Atamunuik/Trump described Griffin’s Conway as “an assault on the senses.” She was wearing that spotlight-stealing Trump Revolutionary Wear coat from Gucci that she’d worn to his inauguration.

Conway/Griffin plugged First Daughter

Ivanka Trump Follows Celebs on Instagram, Now They’ve Targeted Her in Clean Dream Act Campaign
Just like most everyone else, Ivanka Trump follows some of her favorite celebrities on Instagram. Now, those very stars followed by the first daughter — including Cara Delevingne, Olivia Wilde and Sophia Bush — are using their platform to send her a message. Sophia Amoruso, the founder of clothing store Nasty Gal and the author of “#GirlBoss,” started it off with a message urging the First Daughter to use her “influence” to advocate for a Clean Dream Act by December. President Donald Trump announced in September that his administration is ending the Obama-era Daca program, which protects young undocumented immigrants. The...

Liz Friedlander to Write and Direct Female-Centric Cop Drama for ABC

Jennifer Lopez as Detective Harlee Santos in NBC’s “Shades of Blue

Conviction” creator Liz Friedlander is looking to bring more women in blue to the small screen. Her as-yet untitled female-led police drama has received a put pilot order from ABC, Variety reports.

Described as a “character-driven procedural,” the project follows “the first female partnership in an elite division of the Lapd, where the two detectives use their particular set of skills to tackle the most high-profile cases as well as a system that doesn’t necessarily want them there,” the source writes.

Friedlander will pen and direct the pilot, as well as serve as executive producer. Earlier this year she helmed the pilot of a detective drama toplined by Sonia Braga for ABC, but the network passed on the project.

Hayley Atwell-starrer “Conviction” was cancelled during its first season on ABC. The drama centered on a rebellious former First Daughter of the United States working in law.

Stalker,” “The Following,” and “The Vampire Diaries” are among Friedlander’s previous credits.

Other female-centric cop projects in the works include a drama in development at Fox from “Juno” screenwriter Diablo Cody and “Finding Carter” co-creator Emily Silver and a Melissa McCarthy-led movie about Boston’s first female cops in the 1970s.

Liz Friedlander to Write and Direct Female-Centric Cop Drama for ABC was originally published in Women and Hollywood on Medium, where people are continuing the conversation by highlighting and responding to this story.

Ivanka Trump sat down for an interview on “The Dr. Oz Show” recently, and discussed accusations that she has failed to “moderate” her father’s agenda. The First Daughter also serves as advisor to President Donald Trump, and was a frequent advocate for issues like gender pay equality on the campaign trail. But since her father was sworn into office, Trump has taken fire for failing to make good on that promise. In a preview clip of the interview, which will air in full on Thursday, Oz asked Trump about the criticism. She responded by saying that her critics misunderstand her role.

Ivanka Trump’s Plea to ‘Daddy’ Makes Twitter Cringe
In a speech in North Dakota Wednesday, Donald Trump found a creepy new way for a father to talk about his 35-year-old daughter, telling an audience that she childishly pleaded with him to come along on the trip while calling him “Daddy.” “Come on, honey, should I bring Ivanka up?” Trump asked the crowd, who cheered at the First Daughter’s name (the audience must not have read the op-ed in The New York Times Wednesday morning calling his daughter “more a logo than a person“). “Sometimes they’ll say, you know he can’t be that bad a guy,

Protests erupted across the country on Monday morning as Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced that President Donald Trump‘s administration would rescind Daca — the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals policy that offers work permits to people who entered the country illegally as minors.

Multiple demonstrators — including some undocumented immigrants — were reportedly arrested at Trump Tower as hundreds of local immigrants and advocates descended on the president’s midtown Manhattan residence and business headquarters to protest the repeal of Daca. Some of the protestors had staged a sit-in in the middle of the street and were arrested after they blocked traffic
