Storyline

A terrorist, Michael Kittredge, posing as an environmentalist protester leads a team of highly-skilled mercenaries to take control of an oil rig off the coast of California, intending to detonate an electromagnetic bomb over the United States, striking a sort of "new Pearl Harbor" attack on behalf of enemies to the nation. What Kittredge didn't count on is a tugboat captain, Lamont Dixon, who survives an attack on his ship, and is soon recruited by an FBI agent to infiltrate the oil rig and procure information about their plans... and if possible, stop them. In the process, Dixon meets an eager computer expert aboard the oil rig who helps Dixon even as he gets on his nerves and Lamont suspects he can't really trust him. Written by austin4577@aol.com

Quotes

Agent Reed: [answers phone] Special Agent Reed, identify yourself.
Jamal: 5073. The other kids are shooting at me, mom, and I wanna come home.
Agent Reed: No, no. You can't do that. We need you to find out what Kittredge is really up to.
Jamal: Agent Reed, you've confused me with somebody who gives a damn, okay? I didn't sign up for a hero gig. Come and get me, all right? Put me in jail. I don't care. All I got with me is a tugboat captain with a death wish.
[puts down phone and looks at Lamont apologetically]
Jamal: Not you

It feels like a recycling of all die hard movies combined with some segal flicks

It feels like a recycling of all "die hard" movies combined with some segal flicks! of course they cant get away with that so they put in a kid.. This way they could add a family drama type background and an angsty fireman. All they needed more was a hint of sex.. Which they clumsily poured in at the end! The movie runs like a train! Which is undeniably good, the problem is the background. You shouldn't think too much, actually I advise against thinking at all. You need to accept a lot of facts. One of the harder ones is a fireman who in the end turns out to be a near superman! I also have to admit.. the whole plot really doesn't get me worried about who wins! I really didn't care enough! Or any of my friends.

Its a nice no brainer, but don't spoil too much money on it!
