A painting is stolen from a building during a great fire and after it is recovered, the police find inside a mysterious map. A police officer responsible for the case asks his brother (Stephen Baldwin), who is an antiques expert, to help him during the investigation. Analysing the paint and fabric, they find that the map belonged to Cristopher Columbus and the drawings in it refer to an old legend of a lost treasure. Besides unraveling the mysterious riddles, the police officer and his brother will have to fight off a violent gang pursuing the treasure as well.
1 - Stephen Baldwin.. please stay at home, it'll be good for you (and for us too !). And that includes all the Baldwin dynasty as well !
2 - The screenplay got maybe some good points, but the idiot work of director Jim Wynorski detonated it all !
3 - The bad guys, Hannes Jaenicke and Jerry Doyle. Guys, take this tip : get any work but acting!, just like Coby Ryan McLaughin as the sly detective; he was awful, and in one shot he looked like Ben Affleck which is even more awful !!
4 - Nicollette Sheridan.. what can I say ?! Once I was crazy about her. Her role as Paige Matheson in the TV-Series (Knots Landing) was too sexy to handle !! I think she was a continuous guest star in the sexual fantasies of maybe the whole generation of the late 1980s and the early 1990s. OH Paige! Even in small separate movies such as (Deceptions - 1990) she was still at her top as one sexy chick. But after that, she became suddenly old ?? Her hot body is gone, her pretty face is lost, and despite her role in (Desperate Housewives), as the deliciously evil Edie Britt, she is not that good as an explosive anymore !! AND HERE, in the staggering (Lost Treasure), I honestly sat to watch, hoping for a good action adventure AND any hot scene of Nicollette. BUT you'll find nothing at all. Not even acting (simply there are no characters !!).
5 - The cheap deception in the beginning of the movie : you will read "screenplay by" and there are proofs against that for sure. Let alone that the first scene is a rip-off from (Backdraft - 1991) which is a movie starring another individual of the Baldwin family !
6 - Mark Christopher Lawrence, as the windbag, is nice but without any charisma.
Fairly, the beauty of Tami-Adrian George, the nice wife, was the only good thing in this waste of time named Lost Treasure !
Well, maybe this movie was made to enjoy kids, but it shows like it's made by kids !
