Curious horror / fantasy hybrid from the director (or one of them at any rate) of last years weirdest DTV horror film, Hellbreeder. It's more of a case of light hunters since the entire film appears to have been shot in daylight but since its aim doesn't really appear to be to scare it is not necessarily a bad thing. The film needs some concentration, the stories within stories within stories are not the easiest thing in the world to follow but like Hellbreeder it offers an interesting slant on the horror genre for those who are somewhat jaded with what passes as low budget horror currently. The special effects are numerous (good and bad) and the widescreen photography pretty classy as well. As far as cast goes Dominique Pinon (Amelie) is acted off the screen by his feline counterparts (its all very Stephen King) but Jeff Fahey is actually not bad at all. It's all a bit Ghosts of Mars at times but very enjoyable none the less if you're in the mood for something on the unusual side.
