Following Vicente Fox's offensive comments regarding the African-American community, the series was heavily edited in order to mute the many racial slurs thrown at the character of Ángel Bueno, the African student. For its repeated showings following the original broadcast, the series was heavily edited in order to remove the many racial slurs thrown at the different African characters, as well as blur-out copyrighted logos and brand-names seen and spoken throughout the series.
