The BAU heads to Boston, Massachusetts where three men thus far have been found strangled to death in the downtown area. Each were lower middle class which generally rules out theft as the motive, and some sort of garrote was used in each strangulation. Other aspects lead the team to believe that the killings were not random but that the unsub probably didn't know each of the men personally. In interviewing family and friends of the victims, the team also learns that each victim was well liked despite having a major character flaw, those flaws which may be partly the motivation of the unsub in killing them. The team has not been able to identify the last person who would have seen the latest victim, Scotty Delfino, that person who would have been his latest one night stand. But when a fourth and fifth victim emerges, both who don't quite fit the profile, it is their indirect connection and that to Scotty Delfino that may lead the team to the identity of the unsub and the reason why he... At the end, when Rossi, JJ, Garcia, and Reid are singing "Piano Man", Thomas Gibson (Hotch) taking out his smart phone and filming them was unscripted. See more »

Penelope Garcia: His name is Tanner Johnson, and life has not been kind.
Jennifer Jareau: He lost a child, didn't he?
Penelope Garcia: Yeah, last year. Ten year old son Jeremy. According to reports, Jeremy was playing with a friend, they were, like, fake 'wrestling', when Tanner, a freelance photographer/night time doorman, got a call, left the room to take it; when he returned, his son was unconscious, the friend was trying to revive him from a chokehold gone horribly wrong.
Aaron Hotchner: The son was strangled; that's why he uses a garrote.

User Reviews

Paid respect to Boston, but terrible casting/acting.
23 November 2016 | by exelisSee all my reviews

Yeah, this episode was one of the worst so far. (Not counting the one with the little girl that smiled at the kidnapper that raped her aunt and killed her father in front of her... That one was the worst episode in 9 seasons, period.)

It was nice to hear accurate street names and references about Boston, and see maps of my fair city. Unfortunately, they hired someone that looked like they were 15 to be the "unsub", but his pregnant ex-wife looked 40 years older. Give me a break. The best part about the show was the sub-plot about Rossi and his favorite bar.

After that, IMDb requires me to write 10 lines of text for a review, which is utterly ridiculous. A.J. Cook is beautiful. Jeanne Tripplehorn is lovely, as well, though I wish we had seen more of her when she was younger. MGG is still annoying, though he is growing on me. Same with Pineapple Garcia (your latest flavor from Ben & Jerry's). Is this 10 lines, yet, IMDb? I'm not sure why I need to write so much to review an episode of a TV serial drama.
