  • While wrapping a dead body, the sheriff feels a woman's clothed breast for a few seconds. Also, he states, "she feels kind of wet down there, what have you boys been doing to her?"
  • 1 sexual reference.
  • A couple is making out while riding in the back of a car at the very beginning of the movie. They are clothed and the scene lasts only a few seconds.
  • An old man pretends to not be able to get up and a female character tries to assist him, while doing so he rubs her butt.

Violence & Gore

  • Leatherface attacks a man with a chainsaw and injure his leg
  • Leatherface's chainsaw-wielding arm is sliced off with a meat cleaver; blood sprays and we see the arm separate, and lying on the ground in a pool of blood, while the victim screams.
  • A man is hit in the back of the head with a sledgehammer (blood sprays), and his body is later seen being worked on by Leatherface, with various bloody results; later we see Leatherface sewing up what appears to be his skin, and later is shown wearing the man's face.
  • A man is hung from his handcuffs and sliced up the crotch with a chainsaw (the camera cuts before we see anything graphic).
  • A woman is killed with a chainsaw (offscreen).
  • A man is run over by a car and killed (blood splatters the windshield).
  • In several scenes we see a room full of severed, often decomposed body parts. A man smashes a bottle over a man's face, with some bloody results, and a tooth is knocked out.
  • Several scenes of people being chased or threatened in various ways.

Profanity

  • Around 40 uses of "Fuck" and Several uses of "shit", 11 uses of "goddamn", and 1 use of "faggot"
  • Fuck and Shit are said many times throughout the movie, and other mild obscenities are present.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Alcohol, drugs, and smoking elements all throughout the movie.
  • Four out of five of the main characters smoke pot. They are obviously high while they are driving at the beginning of the movie. At one point, one of the guys says "I am way too stoned for this!".
  • A man drinks alcohol.
  • A piñata is stuffed with marijuana.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The entire movie all together is very unsettling and graphic. There are a few jump scares too.
  • The suicide scene is arguably the darkest moment in the movie.
  • Leatherface's appearance can be gross and frightening.
  • A baby is revealed to be kidnapped by a family of psychopaths.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Sex & Nudity

  • In the beginning it is implied that the teenage girl pulled a gun out of her vagina right before she shoots herself

Violence & Gore

  • A man is carried down cellar steps and he grips the walls to try to stop Leatherface. We get a shot of his fingernails breaking on the wall.
  • A woman draws a gun from between her bloodied legs. She then shoots herself in the mouth offscreen. This is followed by a shot of the main characters screaming in terror as the camera then pulls back through the hole in her head, out of the window and into a wide shot of the camper van.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Hoyt torments Morgan with the gun that the woman used to commit suicide with. He eventually points the gun on the sheriff, and he pulls the trigger, but there's no bullets in it. The scene is very intense with the extreme closeups of both actors' faces, and the unsettling music.
