The summary for this movie says it's a bio pic about a singer, Patricia Paradise. However, when I searched the internet I found NOTHING on this person. The only information I found was her tiny (and difficult to believe) bio on IMDB. As a result, I wondered if this 'bio pic' is real or a completely fictional story.
So, because I could find nothing, I looked up Roger Steinmann and found an article (Wiki said it needs verification) that said that Steinmann himself wrote the film and it IS fictional. So, there is no Patricia Paradise!
Dee Wallace stars as Patricia Paradise and when the story begins, she's famous and beloved by her fans. However, all sorts of bad things start happening...much of which makes little, if any, sense and without context. And, because her life is now terrible, crazy AND folks seem to be out to get her, she keeps talking about needing to go to 'Shangri-la'. And, when she talks about it, a cult-like leader or god (Mickey Rooney) talks to her in visions. It really seemed like a cult recruitment movie. I was curious and I found myself sticking with the film even though it really is awful...especially the acting...and direction...and the script...oh, boy, what a meaningless and confusing script! And later, there's a son...who is instantly about 20! Huh?!
The final verdit is that this 'bio pic' certainly isn't one. It's just a very bad film with little to offer viewers. Watch if you want...and if you know much about HOW and WHY the film was made, let me know. I can only assume it was the foundation for a Mickey Rooney cult!
