MipTV: India’s Applause Acquires Remake Rights to Hit Israeli shows from Armoza

  • Variety
London – – Indian content producer Applause Entertainment has acquired remake rights to three hit Israeli shows from Israel’s Armoza Formats.

“Hostages” is a crime thriller that has been sold worldwide and was adapted for CBS by Jerry Bruckheimer Television and Warner Bros. Television. “La Famiglia” and “Honey Badgers” are comedies.

Casting, writing and pre-production on the three remakes are underway.

Applause Entertainment is a part of the $50 billion Aditya Birla Group that has interests across sectors. After producing acclaimed Bollywood films “Dev” (2004) and “Black” (2005), the company lay dormant for more than a decade before being revived in 2017 with a $45 million budget under the leadership of television industry veteran Sameer Nair with a view to creating content for digital platforms. Earlier this year, Applause acquired the rights to BBC shows “The Office” and “Criminal Justice”.

“I have been a big fan of Israeli content as our countries have a close cultural affinity,

Is Taron Egerton Playing Elton John In Rocketman?

Taron Egerton’s star is on the ascendant right now. He broke out as scally turned secret agent Eggsy Unwin in Matthew Vaughn’s surprise smash-hit Kingsman and is soon to reprise the role in the hotly anticipated Kingsman: The Golden Circle. Now, we’re hearing that he might be lined up for an altogether more tuneful role as Reggie Dwight, aka Elton John in the long rumoured biopic, Rocketman.

The report comes from The Daily Mail, so don’t so much take it with a pinch of salt than with a double fistful, but they’re saying he’s the frontrunner for the part, with the script written by Lee Hall and Dexter Fletcher directing. The project depicts Elton John’s early career after he won a piano scholarship, met longtime songwriting partner Bernie Taupin, and released some seriously toe-tapping pop.

Once confirmed for Tom Hardy, Egerton also looks

Taron Egerton interview: Sing, Kingsman 2, Kingsman 3

Brendon Connelly Jan 26, 2017

Taron Egerton chats to us about Sing, Kingsman 2, a possible third film, and a big deleted scene from Kingsman…

Taron Egerton is, as he will tell you himself, easily best known for his role as Eggsy in Kingsman and its rapidly incoming sequel. In fact, so much of what I knew about Egerton comes from watching him in charm up the screen in Kingsman and Eddie The Eagle that I was a little surprised to see just how good a job he also does in Sing, playing a singing gorilla who’d rather tickle the ivories than drive get-away for his family of bank robbers. Singing is a particular skill of course but, as Egerton and I discussed, so is providing the voice of an animated character.

We met last week and chatted about Sing, Kingsman chapters two and beyond, and what else Egerton has on his To Do list.

Animated Movie Music Features Everything From Pop Hits to a Broadway Star

Animated Movie Music Features Everything From Pop Hits to a Broadway Star
New songs, covers of old songs, chart-topping singers, Broadway tunesmiths: musically speaking, this year’s crop of animated movies has a little of everything. Both “Trolls” and “Sing” feature lavishly produced covers of classic songs. “Sing” features no fewer than 65 tunes, of which just 20 are the original master recordings; the other 45 not only needed to be cleared but arranged, performed, and animated.

It was a two-year process, says executive music producer Harvey Mason Jr., a Grammy-winning songwriter and producer whose resume includes everyone from Justin Bieber to Beyonce. “It was the craziest job ever,” he says. “We did some of the songs eight or nine different times in different ways.”

Because “Sing” is about a vocal competition, the settings ranged from auditions to a singing, dancing finale. Characters include a punk-rock porcupine (Scarlett Johansson), a Sinatra-esque mouse (Seth MacFarlane), a soulful gorilla (Taron Egerton), a shy elephant (Tori Kelly), and

How They Animated ‘Sing’ With a Live-Action Vibe Like ‘The Commitments’ — Video
Although it came as no surprise to the Illumination animators in Paris that live-action director Garth Jennings wanted them to approach their first musical extravaganza, “Sing,” more like “The Commitments” than “Despicable Me,” only with animals, they had no idea what they were in for. Long takes, wild camera work, off-beat song and dance performances and naturalistic acting required greater teamwork and more time than any of their previous movies.

“It was an acting breakthrough because of Garth,” animation director Pierre Leduc told IndieWire. “He pushed us to add more feeling to the characters and to push the way they moved in a more particular way.”

Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Seth MacFarlane, Scarlett Johansson Are Featured In Sing Character Photos

The lead cast of Sing shares the stage with the characters they portray in the holiday event of the year from Illumination Entertainment.

Nick Kroll And Gunter

For the first time ever, Nick Kroll appears with his character, Gunter, from Illumination Entertainment’s Sing.

Gunter is the Spandexed show-stopper whose sheer enthusiasm overcomes his lack of actual talent.

Like all the stars of Sing, Kroll does his own singing in the film, including renditions of Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance,” Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off” and Bananarama’s “Venus.”

Kroll Quote:

“Gunter knows what we all should: Everything is better in a gold track suit. He is the yin to Rosita’s yang. If she’s hesitant, insecure and brilliantly talented…then Gunter is the one who’s first to hit the stage and shake his piggy patootie; he’s a legend in his own mind. When I first

Stars Of ‘Sing’ Pose With And Talk About Their Characters

There’s a unique treat coming your way this holiday season as reality singing competitions meet the world of animated adventures in Sing.

As a unique treat involving that unique treat, the stars of the movie have taken time out of their busy schedules to pose with their characters and give us a look into their thoughts and feelings about them.

Matthew McConaughey (above) plays Buster Moon, an eternal—some might even say delusional—optimist who still believes in the wonder and magic of his once-grand theater and will do anything to preserve it.

Like all the stars of Sing, McConaughey does his own singing in the film, with a memorable rendition of Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe.”

Of Buster, McConaughey says –

“I’ve always regarded Buster as the ultimate creator…a showman who refuses to accept defeat and a guy who will accomplish the impossible through sheer force of will.

Fitness Instructor Fights Back with Kindness After She was Bullied for Wearing This Dress to Friend's Wedding
Nutrition and fitness coach Liz Krueger is fighting back after she says she was bullied for wearing a mini-dress to her friend's wedding last month. The 31-year-old from Minneapolis posted a photo of herself on Instagram wearing a tight-fitting strapless dress and heels, noting how, without asking for it, attention was taken away from the bride and pointed toward her. "If only I knew that choosing this dress for a wedding on a 90 degree day meant so many women would be outrightly rude to me, and even come up behind me slap my ass as I'm standing alone," she wrote.
