My husband picked this show on its premier night. I was hooked! I watch very few shows on the ABC network these days, but this one was definitely a "keeper" in my book.
Each episode slowly peeled back another layer of the very mysterious and complex lives of the main characters. A show with some depth, what a novel idea!
This show reminded me a lot of the first couple of seasons of The X-Files. There was a "WOW! That was good!" followed by "Ooh, I wonder what's coming next week?". Anticipating whether the next episode would either address a personal issue of the main characters (that you actually cared about), or throw you right into the middle of them encountering and dealing with someone else's troubles.
The show was constantly being pre-empted by news break-ins of the war in Iraq with fuzzy images of Ted Koppell in green night vision-o-rama. It's a shame that ABC gave "Miracles" the boot because not enough people were watching it when, in reality, they didn't give us the choice on whether to watch or not.

Here's another solid concept that fell victim to the whims of the great unwashed of American television audiences. A truly interesting concept, coupled with some solid acting by Ulrich and Macfayden made "Miracles" one of the freshest new shows of the 2002-2003 prime-time television season. Alas, probably because there was no one getting "voted off the Island" on it - it got voted off the Island pretty quickly. I will always rue the fact that the ultimate plot was never allowed to be revealed and the nature of the "God is nowhere" phenomenon was never explained to viewers. Like a succulent hybrid of "X-files" and "Millennium," "Miracles" promised the building intrigue of a huge, unraveled conspiracy theory and the creepy twisted irony of religion gone terribly awry. A real shame it was cancelled, especially while pap like "Big Brother" hangs around longer than the lunch special at Luby's. USA Network was brave enough to pick up "Monk" - I wish they'd have done the same for "Miracles." It'd be awesome for the Sci-Fi Network. Oh well, I expect no less from an obtuse network like ABC - maybe they can flog a couple more cheesy seasons out of that tired old "Practice" - but I doubt it.
I happened to catch this programme while flicking through endless channels one night. At first I just watched because I recognised one of the main actors in the show (Angus MacFadyen) and thought this might be quite good. I proved myself right and after the first 15 minutes I was hooked. However I began to wonder why I'd never heard of it and why it was shown on Living TV of all channels at some ridiculous time.
I conducted a search on the internet only to find the show had aired briefly in the US and had then been cancelled. I mean why? Don't the American T.V execs appreciate a decent drama above all the disastrously awful "reality TV" which is shoved in our faces day and night?
I felt quite saddened when I tuned in the next week as I knew the programme would eventually stop abruptly and have no real ending. So it ends up like many good shows (e.g The Handler and American Gothic), not really given a chance and then cancelled after a few episodes. It makes you wonder why the writers and actors of these shows even bother when they pretty much know they'll lose out to moronic and simply awful T.V which just happens to grab the ratings.
My only hope is it will be released on DVD or maybe a miracle will happen and it will be resurrected...I can live and hope...

What a shame that ABC is so clueless and cancelled this great show after just 5 episodes and when things were getting so interesting. I suppose that is the way it goes with all good television; for some reason our society in general is not able to handle an hour of intelligent and insightful programing. Let's hope this somehow finds its way to another network or to DVD. There are 7 episodes that will never see the light of day otherwise.
This is, without doubt, an excellent TV show. I saw the previews and knew and I had to watch. Although it starts slow, it had an excellent story & kept my attention. The acting & writing is excellent & it's actually different than any other program out there. I love the whole supernatural aspect, too. I looked forward to watching it each week & I became horrified when I came down one day to find another pathetic Michael Jackson Interview on instead. These stations need to realize the viewers want quality programming, not any pathetic reality shows or interviews with failing & and desperate celebrities.
