Sex & Nudity

Violence & Gore

  • In a nightmare sequence, we see Chick Hicks get chopped up by Frank.
  • The last race of the Piston Cup season features a huge, multicar crash (the kind you've likely seen if you've ever watched a NASCAR race). Some of the race cars are severely damaged, but the "camera" doesn't linger on them. Potentially the most disturbing scene for younger viewers comes in the tiebreaker when Chick sideswipes The King and sends him into a violent, career-ending crash that leaves him badly beaten up, even though the tiebreaker is his farewell race.
  • In a dream, Lightning imagines himself as a jet fighter firing rockets at advancing War of the Worlds-like alien machines, which explode when hit by his weaponry, in his own movie, "Lightning Storm".
  • Lightning makes a "grand" entrance into Radiator Springs trying to outrun the Sheriff. An accident leaves him entangled in barbed-wire fencing and towing a statue of the town's founder.
  • Lightning McQueen races off a cliff into a cactus patch. Slightly intense, but meant to be comical.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • There are comments made about a VW minibus having done drugs in its youth, which apparently caused some brain damage. One vehicle makes a remark about another being "lit" which could mean drunk.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • McQueen gets tangled in a bunch of fence wires that tangle around the Stanley statue. It's very frightening when it comes in onscreen.
  • There are a couple of scenes that may frighten young viewers. Not that much though.
  • Both the first and last big racing competitions are pretty intense, mainly for the crashing racecars.
  • The scene where Mater and Lightning are chased by "Frank", a menacing harvester machine, is mildly frightening and could scare young kids.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • In a dark nightscene bullies bugs McQueens friend (the truck) who accidentally leaves McQueen alone. Despite McQueen rushes after him he does not manage to catch up and is left all alone in a more remote location at night. Scary for kids who are afraid to be left alone in the night.
  • Chick shoves The King out of the way causing him to fall and crash in the infield, leaving him to be battered and bruised and beat up.
