Storyline
A young woman, forced to live the life of sex worker after the death of her parents, loses her faith in life and human beings in general when her brother dies. Three young persons fall in love with her, a spoilt alcoholic who lives life on the edge and dies as a result of excessive alcoholism, a schoolteacher who involuntarily is made responsible for the death of the lady's school going brother, and the college student whose simplicity and naiveté wins the heart of the sex worker. Amidst parental pressure and social obstacles, the student marries the sex worker, thus completing the cycle of life and giving her societal respect. —Ani

Shoma Anand in lead role
Shoma Anand in lead role as a kind hearted prostitute with her regular co-star Raj Kiran, Vikram and Mithun Chakraborty as her suitors; Patita was rumored to be ghost directed by Shoma's mentor Pramod Chakravarthy but the film turned out to be dull and drab in comparison to B R Ishaara's Chetna (1970) which dealt with the same subject. My only takeaway from Patita was Mithunda's entry scene where he grooves to a Boney M song in his trademark style which made him India's one and only Disco Dancer (1982) two years later.
