B.C. Butcher is set to have its world premiere on Thursday March 3rd at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood. In attendance will be: Kansas Bowling, Rodney Bingenheimer, Kato Kaelin, Lloyd Kaufman, Natasha Halevi, Devyn Leah, Molly Elizabeth Ring, Kadim Hardison, Miranda Robin, Cherie Currie, Michael des Barres, Kadim Hardison, Allison Anders, the band Kill My Coquette.
Awhile back I wrote a rave review of the campy, hilarious new Troma movie B.C. Butcher, directed by seventeen year old Kansas Bowling. Heidi Honeycutt, programmer for the female-directed genre film festival Etheria Film Night, is also a big fan so she decided to organize a world premiere for the film at The Egyptian Theater.
The event will be presented by Etheria Film Night and The American Cinematheque, and will feature a star studded red carpet at 6:00, and a live show by the band Kill My Coquette at...

From Troma to Super, via Scooby Doo, we chart the movie career of Guardians Of The Galaxy director James Gunn...
Darling of outsider cinema turned blockbuster-building genius James Gunn is sure to have made millions of new fans in the last week alone. With August box office records broken by Guardians Of The Galaxy (Marvel’s off-world gamble and a wildly entertaining space-romp with heaps of heart written and directed by James Gunn - as if you didn’t know), he’s about to get a lot more phone calls than he did before. And he may have already been getting a fair few.
You don’t have to wait years for the already-announced sequel for your next dose of his unique brand of cinema though; he’s got a hefty CV that blends horror, hilarity and heroes in equal measure. Here’s our low-down on some of the highlights…...

This just in from Facebook (pay no attention to the time Joss Whedon already talked about Gunn like he was a done deal), James Gunn really is the writer and director of Guardians of the Galaxy!
Gunn, who flits in and out of my life with ‘Super,’ ‘Slither,’ ‘Lollilove,’ and PG Porno shorts is probably most derided for being a credited writer on ‘Scooby Doo,’ a movie with many uncredited writers. His film work has been very entertaining for the fanboy in me and this falls in line with Marvel’s previous plan of picking director’s with vision who can elevate the comic material.
And, just for the record, James Gunn is the only man whose anti-piracy arguments I’ll take seriously. Because when the MPAA is telling you downloading movies is illegal, they’re not legislating for the pornography industry, and that’s the pervasive theft Gunn takes into account.

Two very different movies from the crazies at Troma Studios will screen Friday night March 16th at The Way Out Club as part of our third monthly Troma Night At The Way Out Club. We’ve decided to move it back to Friday night and we’ve got a great Free double feature.
“Saving the world, one sucker at a time”
First up this month is Lollilove, a riotous 2004 mock documentary about charity and the homeless directed by and starring St. Louis’ own Jenna Fischer (from The Office) and produced by and costarring her then-husband and fellow St. Louisan James Gunn. Fisher and Gunn play well-meaning Hollywood rich kids who decide to prop up the homeless by handing hobos and drunken derelicts lollypops. Not just any suckers, but ones with designer inspirational wrappers. LolliLove is a bit of an odd release for Troma, because it’s not a blood, boob,...

Usually when I want my Jenna Fischer fix, I just watch The Office. When Fischer does a feature, she generally does not star, aside from the indie film Lollilove. In A Little Help, Fischer gets to take the lead as a mother who has recently been widowed. Instead of telling everyone the truth about how his father (Chris O'Donnell) died, Dennis (Daniel Yelsky) says he was killed during 9/11 because "it's cooler". The trailer is charming in my opinion. Fischer really needed a film and...
