Storyline

Horatio Caine, a former homicide detective, heads a group of investigators who work crimes amid the steamy, tropical surroundings and cultural crossroads of Miami. His team includes Calleigh Duquesne, a bilingual Southern beauty with a specialty in ballistics; Tim Speedle, a cocky yet disarming investigator who is well connected on the street, and Eric Delko, an underwater recovery expert who knows all the twists and turns of the Florida waterways. Rounding out the team is Alexx Woods, the no-nonsense, know-it-all coroner. And, after Speedle is killed in Action, Former Patrolman Ryan Wolfe joins the team. Together, these investigators collect and analyze the evidence to solve the crimes and to vindicate those who often cannot speak for themselves -- the victims. Written by Anonymous

Trivia

Kim Delaney's exit from the show, early in the first season, was due to a lack of on-screen chemistry between her and David Caruso. The show runners used a so-called "trap-door" plot line, in which her character's letter to Horatio implied that she had returned to work too soon after having witnessed her husband's murder, and was still grieving the loss, therefore was unable to handle the rigors of the job anymore as head of the crime lab and was passing the torch to Horatio. Goofs

In many episodes, a suspect is found because a gun was registered to them or someone is threatened with the charge of "possession of an unregistered firearm", or some other reference is made to a firearms registration database. The state of Florida has fairly relaxed gun control laws, and there is no gun registration system anywhere in the state. See more »

Not as good as the original
10 August 2004 | by See all my reviews

CSI: Miami is a fun show to watch, like the original CSI:. But the chemistry in the original isn't quite there.

Grissom, in CSI:, is interesting, deep, and can easily be believed to be as smart as he is. But Horatio in CSI: Miami seems a bit more flat, and his bright moments seem cheesy and scripted.

Other characters don't seem to grow in CSI: Miami, while there's clear changes in their CSI: counterparts. Also, the side stories are more interesting in CSI: than in CSI: Miami.

So, while I'll watch CSI: Miami, it's not growing on me like how the original did.
