Benedict Cumberbatch Teases Doctor Strange's Fate in Infinity War

Benedict Cumberbatch Teases Doctor Strange's Fate in Infinity War
Avengers: Infinity War is predicted to bring a brutal ending to a lot of our favorite heroes, while keeping others alive for future installments in the McU. While the magic-based hero Doctor Strange has been presumed to make it out of the movie alive, actor Benedict Cumberbatch may be hinting otherwise.

With the possibility of Doctor Strange 2 on the horizon, most fans have assumed that Doctor Strange will make it out of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4 alive and well. With a huge actor like Benedict Cumberbatch, most people assumed that this particular Avenger would go on to be a tentpole movie for Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, the future is never certain, and the fact that the rumored Doctor Strange 2 doesn't even have a release date yet is certainly means for concern.

In a recent interview with Radio Times, Benedict Cumberbatch discussed the mysterious future of Doctor Strange.

Doctor Strange Lets the McU Get Weird: Journey to Infinity War Part 14
Doctor Strange, similar to the Guardians of the Galaxy but not quite that radically obscure, is, or was, a character that even few hardcore comic book readers had more than a passing familiarity with up until very recently. However, when Benedict Cumberbatch bought Marvel's Sorcerer Supreme to life on the big screen in 2016, he became a character that not only truly resonated with audiences, but one that opened up a huge corner of the Marvel universe that was previously unexplored. Doctor Strange is not only one of the best McU origin movies, but a very important one.

It's worth saying before I dig too heavily into this that this is by far the most personal movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for me. I've adored these movies from the start, but Doctor Strange was always a character I cherished above (nearly) all others. But he wasn't terribly popular until very recently.

Doctor Strange Writer Clears Up Fan Confusion Over The Film’s Climax

Remember Doctor Strange‘s third act? Yes, of course you do, as it’s become a favorite meme of Marvel fans. The mystical superhero movie bucked the McU trend by building its climax around the hero outwitting the villain with their mind. In particular, Benedict Cumberbatch’s Stephen Strange used the Time Stone to bargain with Dormammu, the dreaded lord of the Dark Dimension, to surrender and leave Earth alone.

It’s a cool scene, but some folks didn’t like how it kind of made Dormammu, one of the most powerful entities in the whole Marvel universe, look like a bit of an idiot. Did he really give in after just a few minutes of a time loop? One fan finally decided that it was time to find out the answer once and for all by directing the question at director Scott Derrickson and screenwriter C. Robert Cargill on Twitter.

Doctor Strange Gained ‘More Mastery’ Of Powers In Dark Dimension

Just how long was Doctor Strange in the Dark Dimension? Screenwriter C. Robert Cargill has revealed it may have been a lot longer than anyone thought.

The climax of Doctor Strange was unlike any other Marvel movie to date. Rather than outfight the Dread Dormammu, Strange outthought him. He dove into Dormammu’s realm, and used the power of the Time Stone to establish a time loop.

Benedict Cumberbatch Teases Doctor Strange’s Evolution In Avengers: Infinity War

Armed with the world-famous Eye of Agamotto (read: the Time Stone), it’s no secret that Doctor Strange will prove instrumental during the course of Avengers: Infinity War.

Much like Vision before him, the mere fact that Benedict Cumberbatch’s Sorcerer Supreme is walking around with an Infinity Stone hiding in plain sight has led many to wonder if Strange has found his way onto Joe and Anthony Russo’s fabled kill list. The jury’s still out on that one, mind you, as we fully expect Marvel and director Scott Derrickson to begin work on a Doctor Strange sequel once Infinity War and the so-far untitled Avengers 4 have their time in the sun.

If one thing’s for certain though, it’s that the Stephen Strange we meet in Infinity War will be much different than the one first introduced to us back in 2016. Speaking at a recent fan event,

Could Doctor Strange Save Everyone Who Dies in Infinity War? Possibly - Here's How

There's been a lot of discussion about who's most likely to die in Avengers: Infinity War lately - is it Captain America? Iron Man? Vision? Someone else entirely?! But considering almost every star is still signed on for the untitled Avengers 4, something strange (pun intended) is afoot. Enter the man himself: Doctor Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch).

In the Marvel comics universe, Doctor Strange is one of the strongest sorcerers ever - he's known as the Sorcerer Supreme, guardian of the universe at large (so, you know, no biggie). Strange can access and manipulate energy from the multiverse, transform matter, teleport, cast illusions, project thoughts, erase memories, travel through dimensions and time, access the astral plane, and a whole lot more. In addition, he also wields several mystical objects to give him other powers. In short, comic-book Doctor Strange is an intimidating dude.

I Will Riot If Marvel Dares to Kill Captain America in Avengers: Infinity War

Sure, the new Avengers: Infinity War trailer might finally explain what villain Thanos wants, but I could barely bother to care about that after seeing Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), formerly Captain America, holding off a punch from the Infinity Gauntlet. Excuse Me, I was not emotionally prepared to have Steve's probable death thrown in my face in a trailer.

People have been worrying about Robert Downey, Jr.'s Tony Stark for a while, but honestly? I'm more worried about Steve. I'm carefully not calling him Captain America anymore because Steve apparently ripped off all the patches on his uniform associating him with the Avengers and America since he's, you know, a fugitive vigilante now. (He's probably going by Nomad even if torn-off patches aren't as impressive as that getup from the comics.)

Adam Strange, created by editor Julius Schwartz and illustrator Murphy Anderson, debuted in DC Comics' "Showcase" #17 (November 1958).

"...Strange is an archeologist suddenly teleported from Peru to the planet 'Rann' through a 'Zeta-Beam'.

"Upon his arrival, he is attacked by one of the planet's predators and rescued by a woman called 'Alanna'.

"She takes him to her father 'Sardath' who explains that the Zeta-Beam was transmitted at Earth in the hopes that whatever form of intelligent life lived there would trace it back to Rann...

"...theorizing that in the 4.3 years it takes the Zeta-Beam to reach earth, it was altered by space radiation into a transportation beam.

Infinity Stones Locations, Powers and History Explained

Infinity Stones Locations, Powers and History Explained
Avengers: Infinity War is only a month away, and Marvel fans couldn't be more excited to see the climax of the series. This film has been set up for the past 10 years since Iron Man first premiered in 2008, but the most meticulous planning for the film has been the inclusion of the Infinity Stones in a majority of the Marvel Cinematic Universe films.

Infinity War will finally be the culmination of the Stones' set up, with the Mad Titan Thanos finally getting up from his throne to retrieve all six Infinity Stones. While the fights and characters will obviously be the highlights of the film, many people are extremely excited to finally see the Infinity Stones together.

The question is, where are all of the Infinity Stones? Even for hardcore Marvel fans, it may be hard to keep track of the locations of each stone, especially if you haven't seen every movie recently.

Benedict Cumberbatch Says He Doesn’t Know Anything About Doctor Strange 2

One of the heroes we can’t wait to check in on in Avengers: Infinity War is Doctor Stephen Strange. Benedict Cumberbatch’s Master of the Mystic Arts will mostly team up with Iron Man and Spider-Man in the movie and, going by what we’ve seen so far, they’re going to be a terrific trio. In particular, fans are keen to see the “Awesome Facial Hair Bros” come together for the first time on screen.

In fact, while talking with Entertainment Weekly recently, Cumberbatch spoke about his admiration for his co-star, Robert Downey Jr., while also mentioning that he’s still in the dark about Doctor Strange 2. First up, though, the actor had nothing but good things to say about the daddy of the McU, praising how Rdj leads a set.

“I got on very well with Robert Downey Jr. He’s the most inclusive leading man, and generous to a fault,

Taboo episode 8 review

Even if Taboo’s finale makes barely a lick of sense, it certainly provides a spectacle…

Cheerio to James Delaney, currently sailing with a ragtag crew to Portugal to liaise with an American spy. Why he’s doing that is anybody’s guess. Why James Delaney has done any of this is anybody’s guess.

Prior to the shoot-out, this finale was representative of the series as a whole. A half-dead Delaney stalked around London taking care of business by having gnomic, sometimes violent conversations with friends and foe, rarely allowing us the privilege of knowing whatever the hell was going on. The episode was designed to show off our lead as a strategic master of Sherlockian guile.

Taboo Season 1 Episode 7 Review: Revelations

East India thinks they've won, but it's James Delaney who appears to have the upper hand, as always.

There were so many Huge reveals in Taboo Season 1 Episode 7 that I barely know where to start, so let's get right to it.

Helga was so convinced that Delaney killed poor Winter that she dimed out Delaney to East India, but of course she's wrong.

I don't think anyone out there really thought Delaney did the deed, but it's good to know that it was the evil East India responsible for it.

And it was heartbreaking to see Winter join the cast of dead spirits that haunt Delaney: poor guy.

Lorna is really feeling Delaney now, but he seems resigned to the fact that he is damned, and doesn't want to take anyone else with him.

Lorna: I know you didn't do it.

Delaney: And how would you know that? nt] I very well may have.

Taboo episode 7 review

Taboo’s lead character remains the frustrating blank space at the centre of an otherwise appealing show…

See related Bethesda explains why Doom 4 was scrapped

For weeks I’ve waited to see James Delaney on the back foot - to watch him put under enough pressure that he finally cracks and reveals the human being inside that inscrutable outer shell. Goodbye to that hope. If twelve hours of torture in the Tower of London doesn’t break Delaney, nothing will. Cuts and bruises aside, he remained as in-control and unreadable in the torturer’s chair as he’s been since he landed in London. In-control, unreadable and sadly, dull.

Taboo’s lead is its weakest link. Somehow under and over-written at the same time, Delaney is all over the place. Are we supposed to love him? Hate him? Love to hate him? Aiming for moral complexity,
