Storyline

Codename: Kids Next Door follows the escapades of five eager, yet bumbling, ten-year-olds as they join forces against adulthood to fight for the right to enjoy all the fun things in life. These principled kids tackle the really important issues facing their peers, like the right to stay up late or to eat whatever they want. But when taking a stand is just not enough, this crew embarks on top secret missions on behalf of children everywhere, utilizing fantastic homemade technology like flying machines and catapults, to accomplish their goals. Like any good team, the agents in Codename: Kids Next Door each have their own distinct identities, skills and personalities. Numbuh One is Nigel Uno, the British-accented leader of the group. Hoagie P. Gilliam, a mechanical genius and expert pilot, is known as Numbuh Two. Diversionary tactics are the specialty of Kiki Sanban, also known as Numbuh Three. Brash and impulsive Numbuh Four (Wallabee Beatles) is a master of hand to hand combat. And ... Written by Cartoon Network (press release)

Trivia

Each season in the series features one or more "art shows". They are experiments in various artistic styles and thus differ significantly from typical episodes. Some examples of these would be the first season's Operation: Codename: Kids Next Door: Operation T.H.E.-F.L.Y./Operation P.O.I.N.T. (2003) (an episode where no dialogue is spoken and the story is told through music), the second season's Codename: Kids Next Door: Operation: R.E.P.O.R.T./Operation: B.R.I.E.F. (2003). (each of the five main characters gives their version of the events of a mission in five different animation styles), the fourth season's Codename: Kids Next Door: Operation F.O.O.D.F.I.T.E./Operation C.L.U.E.S. (2004) (a heavy metal rock opera), and the sixth season's Codename: Kids Next Door: Operation S.C.I.E.N.C.E./Operation A.M.I.S.H. (2007) (a presentation of commercials that, in the episode's story line, characters have created to advertise their 2x4 technology). See more »

Well worth watching
9 September 2006 | by StudioSuiteSee all my reviews

The KND series is without a doubt excellent! The stories and sub plot twists are all integrated into a nice package every time. The artwork is clean & sweet also. Unlike other cartoons that are thrown together and just a lot of messy abstract junky scratches with no real storyline either. But Kids Next Door deliver every time! The 2x4 technology totally rocks! And the Rainbow Monkeys rule!

The animation & cinematography flows perfect in KND and the sf/music meshes perfectly to the action at hand. And there is an endless supply of writing creativity! My favorite cartoon since Sailor Moon.
