I loved LUDOVIC: THE SNOW GIFT and so I couldn't wait to see this short--even though I am about 40 years older than the target audience! While I still enjoyed this one, it wasn't nearly as good and came off as a tad creepy and maudlin--but still exceptionally well made. Like the previous film, it uses lovely sets, a cute voice for Ludovic and some of the best music to set the mood.
Unfortunately, the story might be hard for little kids to understand--after all, symbolism isn't something they readily digest. Apparently Ludovic's grandma died (yikes!) and he's going to go stay with grandpa. Once there, things around the home remind the little bear of grandma and using his imagination, he pretends grandma is there--dancing with him and spending a few last moments with him. Cute, yes--but also a tad creepy. It's still worth watching but the whole death aspect makes this one a tough sell--unless it is shown to children dealing with grief issues themselves.
Well done but maybe too much for younger audiences.
