Storyline

Mild-mannered timid businessman Dave Buznik works for a pet clothing company out of New York City. He's got an abrasive boss named Mr. Frank Head who frequently takes credit for his work and steps on him in return. He's got a loving girlfriend, Linda, whose best friend is her condescending college ex, Andrew. But when a misunderstanding aboard an airplane goes haywire, Dave is ordered by the court to undergo anger management therapy at the hands of specialist Dr. Buddy Rydell, who is an unpredictable, psychopathic character. As the relationship between Dave and Buddy becomes more tense, when the unorthodox treatment wreaks havoc Dave's life, and Buddy might be the only one who can save him from a problem he recognizes right away in his patient, that could only get worse. Trivia

Mayor Guiliani's line: "You can do it!" was referencing Rob Schnieder's line in Adam Sandler's other movies, such as The Waterboy (1998) and Little Nicky (2000). Rob had been cast in most of Sandler's movies, but he wasn't in this one. See more »

Goofs

In the scene where Dave Buznick is preparing breakfast for Buddy Rydell, there is a difference between the eggs that Dave Buznick cracks into the frying pan and the eggs that are served to Buddy Rydell. When Dave Buznick cracks the egg on the edge of the pan, he also broke the membrane of the yolk causing the egg yolk to run. The egg that Dave Buznick serves to Buddy Rydell does not have a broken yolk. See more »

Quotes

Dr. Buddy Rydell: So, Dave. Tell us about yourself. Who are you?
Dave Buznik: Well, I'm an executive assistant for a major pet products company.
Dr. Buddy Rydell: [interupts him] Dave, I don't want you to tell us what you do. I want you to tell us who you are.
Dave Buznik: Oh, alright, um... I'm a pretty good guy. I like playing tennis on occasion.
Dr. Buddy Rydell: Also, not your hobbies Dave. Just tell us who you are.
Dave Buznik: [stumped] Maybe you could give me an example of what a good answer would be? Um...
[to Lou]
Dave Buznik: What did you say?
[the group laughs]

Nicholson's worst movie
23 January 2004 | by mikeewillySee all my reviews

Don't know how he could have associated himself with this piece of trash. The stadium scene alone should have relegated this to his round file of scripts. A statistical outlier in his body of work. We expect this tripe out of Adam Sandler. The statistical outliers in his body of work would be to the good. I'm still waiting for an example.

Update: OK. So I now have 2 examples of good work out of Adam Sandler. They are "50 First Dates" and "Spanglish". I hereby withdraw my previous criticism of him. (However, my criticism of "Anger Management" is unchanged. The movie is terrible.) I hope Adam Sandler continues this string and does not revert to his earlier trash.
