Several centuries ago in Nottingham County, a cruel and greedy baron by the name of Alwine ordered the destruction of the Huntingtons' castle - from the fire of which Robin and his cousins, Will, Winifred and Barbara, miraculously escaped. The youngsters sought shelter in Sherwood Forest. However, in the forest there lived a fearless group of young bandits, led by Little John. Their first encounter with Robin and his cousins was at first rather stormy, as the two groups fought for the destiny of a young, noble maiden named Marian who had fallen into the hands of the bandits during an ambush. Together they try to stop Alwines plan and save Marian Lancaster.
I saw this little anime-show back in my childhood and the main thing that, I remember, fascinated me greatly was the storyline between stern, sober and dark-handsome Gilbert and noble lady Marian. His cold passion for her was the main thing that kept me watching, apart form brave Robin's adventures. Usual thing: when bad guys fall for good girls - I was no exception. And on the whole, that anime was sweet to watch; there were many funny and curious moments that printed on my memory and are still remembered, 10 years after. As a 'Prince of Thieves' story it works out really well, showing all the points necessary for a usual children didactic tale. As a simple adventure cartoon it is dynamic and calm when it's needed. And we mustn't forget that it's a romantic story as well, and romance is something anime-creators have always been great at.
