Storyline

David Jason stars as Mr Micawber in this gentle comedy set in Victorian England and inspired by a character from Charles Dickens' novel 'David Copperfield'. The extravagant but genteel Mr Micawber is fond of large words and long letters and never uses one word when several will do. Appearing to be a man of wealth and success, in reality he hasn't a penny to his name but firmly believes in keeping up appearances at all costs - convinced that something will come along. Superbly played by Jason. Compelling to watch.
15 January 2002 | by Sybil_FawltySee all my reviews

David Jason shows us once again how versatile he is. As well as being a very fine comedy actor, he is perfectly suited to serious parts too. He is marvellous as Micawber - he makes the character believeable and realistic, as well as throwing in a touch of humour now and then. Surely this man deserves a knighthood for all his wonderful work in acting throughout the years.
