Storyline

Engine trouble strands Greg Winters on the farm of eccentric widow, Martha Thompson, who offers him a place to stay in exchange for handyman services. Greg agrees to the arrangement just long enough for him to fix his truck and leave town. The old woman's constant disapproval of Greg almost make the arrangement intolerable, but he unexpectedly falls for her beautiful daughter and soon begins to enjoy country life. Meanwhile the local sheriff is investigating a brutal hit and run. Can a few days in this small town force him to confront his past and change his ways? Or is it too late? Thoughtful drama, a small gem of independent filmmaking
23 July 2002 | by spgorelickSee all my reviews

Having been completely turned off by the pabulum spewed out by Hollywood every winter and summer, I have turned to the world of independent film as my refuge. Movies like "Delayed" remind me of what can and should be done in this medium by filmmakers who work from the mind and the heart. Plotwise, this film is quite simple and straightforward, but it has more moral complexity than 95 per cent of what is playing at your local multiplex. It is refreshing to see a story that is truly about something, featuring real flesh and blood characters displaying genuine emotions. Bravo!
