A tribute to soccer's hard men
10 January 2002 | by See all my reviews

This video, which was pretty controversial when it was released, is a tribute to the hard men of English soccer over the last 30 years. In other words the players who did not become famous because of their technical skills, but because of their hard tackles and sometimes downright dirty style of play. You know, the players who give everything in a tackle, without fear of injuring their opponents or themselves. Some of the players featured are Ron "Chopper" Harris, Tommy Smith, Norman Hunter and Steve McMahon. The video is hosted by Vinnie Jones, who at the time was one of soccer's hard men himself. The English Football Association was not amused by this video which exposes the ugly side of the game, and Jones was fined £20.000 for his part in the video.
