In the gritty American West, survival is a treacherous game. During a Cavalry massacre at an Indian village, two brothers (
Kurt Russell,
Tim Matheson), searching for their captured sister, rescue a white woman (
Susan Dey) long ago kidnapped by the Cheyenne. They ride for their lives, haunted by the chant of the tribal Death Song. At Fort George the brothers try to shelter the woman and her Indian son who are brutalized by the merciless townsfolk. In desperation, she takes the only work offered her - in a brothel. She is once again a captive of the unforgiving old west.
