The first time I saw this movie I was like what the hell is this.. but there were definitely some laughs. Watched it again and its still pretty funny. I'm a big Bam, CKY, HIM, Ryan Dunn fan, so this movie basically covers it all. Sure its a dumb movie..it's not supposed to be any kind of masterpiece, but..if you feel like watching a weird, moderately entertaining movie..go for this one. Raab and Dico have pretty hilarious characters and Bam and Ryan are a little more..normal..sort of, but whatever they're just cool people in general. This movie is like a little Jackass mixed with some random stuff mixed with some cool time-lapse cinematography set to some good HIM songs. So come on, watch it at least once.

If you've seen the skits that Bam and crew do on CKY, this is basically a cross between that and a funny but generic comedy. I enjoyed it but I wasn't expecting a "real" movie.
Ryan Dunn, who apparently the plot is based on, is really the only one who seems to act decently and isn't so cartoonish that he's unbelievable. Bam does a passable job acting -basically just playing himself. Chris Raab stays in his retarded Marlon Brando character and Don Vito is basically himself dressed as Julius Caeser and you can go with that since people do have crazy relatives in real life. Brandon Dicamillo just does the over the top characters he does on the CKY videos which is fine in CKY but it takes you out of the suspension of disbelief a little too much. Between his silly skit characters (one of them has a "beard" that looks like a bag of cotton balls glued together) and the film breaking into random music video-esquire skate montages, it doesn't seem like a narrative movie anymore.
There is potential -the cinematography, directing and editing are all pretty good, though at times self-indulgent, and fans of CKY should enjoy it but I wish it would either try to be a "real" and believable movie or just be over the top ridiculous and funny. It seems to try to be both at once... and that is where it fails. Again, I enjoyed it despite the flaws but I think it would be more interesting to see Bam try to make a real film and not A CKY video with a plot.

Haggard is a great example of how, if one has an idea, a video camera, and few friends, a movie can be made. Directed by skateboarder Bam Margera of 'CKY' and 'Jackass' fame, this is a movie shoddily filmed on handie cams and stars himself and his mates (most of whome have also been affiliated with CKY or Jackass). The story revolves around Ryan Dunn and his serial cheating girlfriend, which is supposidly based on a true story - in short, this film is bloody funny and if I was you, I would attempt to see it at all costs. This is not Shakespare in Love and this is not the Shawshank Redemption, if it had been made half as seriously as either of these two films then it would have been crap... but seen as they set out to make a crap movie then its actually pretty good.

If you are looking for a movie that doesn't take itself seriously... than Haggard is for you. I must say before i write anything more, that if you have not seen any of the CKY (Camp Kill Yourself) videos than the movie most likely won't be AS funny. My advice is to watch a few clips of those videos that Bam and his friends made. Haggard does not take itself seriously AT all, and that was never the purpose. Throughout the movie you will have random moments that have nothing to do with the plot, which may get annoying but its nothing that is out of control. Even through all that the plot does stay focused and the story of Ryan Dunn's character does unfold quite nicely. This plot i have been told is based off a true story (for the most part)of Ryan Dunn's ex-girlfriend. Brandon Dicamillo is by far the best character in the movie. He has a lot of talent and knows how to make people laugh. He stole the movie if you ask me. Overall I love this movie for its simplicity and straight up weirdness. Its a Bam movie people, its not going to be normal. Haggard is filled with hilarious quotes that my friends and I constantly used since the first time we saw it. I've seen the movie 6-7 times and still find new things every time. The soundtrack is just as good. Everything from Gnar Kill to New Order and some techno. Just don't go into the movie with high expectations, let it all unfold and then judge it for what it is.

this movie was really bad. it has that quality that a lot of indie movies have: moments of humor filled with long spaces that are completely boring. Any die-hard BAM magera fan will prolly like this movie, but then again thats probably the only person who would see it. someone gave me this movie to watch knowing i am a fan of Jackass and was a fan of viva la bam, before the scripted nature of that show wore thin. To explain why this movie doesn't work i should just say the premise itself is played out

I first saw this movie at a video store and, being the Bam Margera fan I am, had to rent it to see what it was all about. Since I have a huge and stupid (note the word stupid) sense of humor, I found this movie absolutely hilarious. Some of the parts are pointless and random, but that's what makes them so amusing. You'll need to think things like getting slapped in the face and bashed on the head with a watermelon are funny in order to appreciate this movie. I was really impressed.
I was also surprised at the acting. These people actually did a good job. Nothing Oscar worthy, but well enough to get past the amateur level. Teens and young adults would probably find this more entertaining because of the modern slang and situations used. I wouldn't suggest watching this with your parents and vice versa.
All in all, the acting was great, the script was hilarious, and the story is really something you can relate to.

I've never written a comment for a movie on IMDb before, but this one is SO bad. It had received so many positive comments here, that i simply HAD to voice my opinion.
I think you have to be a hardcore Bam/CKY fan to watch this. Or be really really stoned.
Let me spoil the first hour of the movie for you. Girl leaves guy for another guy. Friends makes 2 small attempts to cheer up guy: 1: Smearing Pooh on her garage door 2: having him smash empty bottles against a wall
These 2 plot-related episodes takes a couple of minutes. Mostly everything else is filled with scenes made up of music and one of the following: - Bam skating - Bam walking and looking cool - city traffic on fast forward - Guy moaning over his girl
FOR ONE HOUR!
Also featured, is a silly side story about a guy trying to make a "reverse microwave oven" to freeze things really fast. This is actually a microwave covered in cotton wool. Sometimes this guy also wears swimming goggles while putting his action figures in sexual positions, pretending they have intercourse.
I usually don't mind low budget movies with "lame" humor and bad acting. But this is only funny for 5-7 minutes. Then it gets painfully slow and boring. I have NEVER seen anything so bad. If i HAVE to say something positive, the boom operator did a good job :)

In honor of the late Ryan Dunn, I felt I needed to watch Haggard: The Movie. I watched the sequel to the film made six years after this, Minghags, and really enjoyed it. Seeing this one, it clears up a lot of the confusion I had with Minghags. I wasn't aware this was the predecessor to the film, but seeing it now, really makes me take a liking to Bam Margera's independent style of filmmaking.
Before Jackass, Bam Margera took part in a series of videos he called CKY (named after the band). He wound up making several volumes of him and his friends, like Raab Himself, Ryan Dunn, Rake Yohn, etc, goofing around and being themselves. Then he went on to be a member of Jackass and do his own MTV shows like Bam's Unholy Union and Viva La Bam. Haggard: The Movie was the middle of the road coming out in 2003. A year after the first Jackass movie.
It's supposedly a true story remade with the characters in the movie are played by Bam's friends. Ry (Dunn) is upset when he finds out his girlfriend Glauren (Rivell) wants time apart. He then realizes that she is hanging out with a heavy-metal punk nicknamed Hellboy (Yohn). To help their friend out, Valo (Margera), Falcone (DiCamillo), and Raab Himself (Raab) all try to vandalize Glauren's house. But Ry is still sinking deeper and deeper into a mental depression.
The humor is totally up my alley with lots of rough housing, name calling, and well acted, natural conversations. The movie is not too long or too short. It is perfectly managed. The only downside is it has one montage too many. Many of the montages in the movie are set to skateboarders with rock music by CKY, Gnarkill, and H.I.M. in the background. I have no problem with any of the music played, but there are at least four montages in the film that go on for way too long.
Other than that, the film is pretty close to perfect. I was under the assumption that since most of these guys are used to doing dangerous stunts they couldn't really do justice acting in a full length movie. I was way off. They pulled if off perfectly. In no way was I expected Bam and Dunn could both act as well as they did.
Between the soundtrack, the filming style, the humor, the acting, and the story, Haggard: The Movie wins in every category. Except the fact that the number of montages can be tedious, and the subplot of an invention doesn't really take off as much, but we see it done with more in the sequel. Haggard: The Movie is not only a great film, but a great way to remember an amazing actor and daredevil.

I liked some of the CKY videos and Jackass stuff. I figured I would give this a shot. I probably would have thought this movie was funny when I was 12. Having said that, I laughed once or twice. A real amateur effort. This is something you would enjoy watching if you and your friends shot it. It's like a 2 hour student film. It's pretty lame.

The movie Haggard is one of the funniest movies of all time. It features the cast from CKY (the movies) and also has a GREAT soundtrack. If you have seen any CKY or Viva La Bam you will notice that everybody (from those two) are in it. Including Bam's parents and many other people.
The story is about Ryan Dunn's girlfriend Glauren (Jennifer Rivall) cheating on him, and him trying to get back at her. He does this by having Valo (Bam) and Falcone (Dicamillo) vandalize her house. There are many different characters with many different stories.
There is great music on the soundtrack. Bands such as Him & Her, CKY, Gnar Kill, Daniel Lioneye. Iggy and the Stooges Pop, and New Order.
If you do not like Viva La Bam or CKY (the movies) I doubt you will like this. If you DO like that stuff...this movie is great.

I really wanted Haggard to be a good movie. All the Jackass guys are adorable and generally speaking, I like all the spin-off material. There are laugh-out-loud moments in the movie that are just totally wacky but this is just CKY and Jackassish antics, that don't actually make up for the overall movie quality. This movie was painfully bad, I was falling asleep during it and ultimately turned if off before it was over.
Ryan Dunn does a decent job in the lead role but most of the acting is pretty bad. The design and cinematography felt very art school film student-ish. As it was mostly done by our favorite CKYers. At times the movie has the look and feel of a music video, and while I love to watch Bam skate his occasional skating montages through the fill were I assume only to give the move a reputable length of 96 minutes.
Unless you are only watching this to get a daily dose of the beautiful CKY men, skip this one

A wildly pleasant surprise

When I first heard of this movie, I was mildly interested. The plot seemed like an opportunity for hilarity and Bam Margera as an actor and director seemed like something that might be good. When I found out the movie starred Ryan Dunn, I was even further interested (I was a fan of Homewrecker when it was on... Yeah, I'm that lame). However, I didn't have much faith in it being to good. When I sat down to watch it, I was afraid I was wasting my time.
But even just five minutes it it became apparent that I'd been wrong.
I thought that the comedy of this film was delightfully idiotic, and definitely not suited for all kinds of people. The acting was rather good, much better than my expectations. I thought that it was rather easy to relate to Ryan's character, which gave the movie a center that was believable. This is key in a movie as outrageous as this (and is probably why I was not a fan of Borat).
The movie is not suitable at all for younger people, DUH, and will definitely create more than it's fair share of awkward turtles if watched with parents. But it's a good one for you and your buddies on a movie night.

Somebody probably should have told the writer that he's not nearly as funny as he thinks he is... or maybe lay off the drugs for a while. They could use this in acting school to teach what not to do. This movie is might be worse than the piece of crap ICP made. (Big Money Hustlas.)

I watched this back in 2006 and I got to say this is one of the funniest films I've seen in such a long time. Bam Margera's (technically) directorial debut known as "Haggard" really delivers something special and original to us as it's really a romantic comic tragedy, but made by either Jackass stars or CKY stars (if you're fans with any of them...) Haggard tells the story of Ryan Dunn (playing himself) who gets dumped by the love of his life 'Glauren' for some dude named 'Hellboy' and ever since the devastating news he swears revenge and gets his pals Valo and Falcone to do his dirty word (some of that is pun) at Glauren's house. It's such a ridiculous concept but somehow I have a feeling that we can all relate to this film due to losing someone we love and having mixed emotions over it.
What I love about this film is that it's a film clearly made just for fun. Sure it was funded and well planned/structured, however you can tell they had a good time making it and most of the characters are played by either friends or family of Bam's. But there's something personal behind it and I didn't realise until now that the story is based on Ryan's actual love life where something like that actually happened. You really feel sorry for Ryan and his pain behind it all and for that you're keen to know what happens until the very end.
What I didn't like about the film and unfortunately this happens a lot. I didn't particularly like the skateboarding montages, and I felt that Bam needed to remind us that they're also skilled skaters as well as actors. Is this CKY I'm watching now or a narrative-film? I'm a massive fan of HIM and thought that the music choice was incredible so there's a positive about those random montages throughout the feature.
Overall a fantastic film about love and anger, dealing with the sadness that we can all relate to if we ever had someone to brake our hearts, but still laugh out loud to those lovable characters who either get p***ed on, smear s*** on the door, videotape girl's under wears in their house.

I kind of like Bam Margera, so I was curious.
But watching a home production with somebody elses friends and family, with a decent camera and a sound guy, just isn't good film-making.
Writing, direction, acting and editing is abysmal at best. But I sat through half of it. And why?
This film gives perfect examples of what not to do, it is a film student's dream of what to avoid at every stage of the process. Cram it into film school curiculums all over the joint!
So thanx Bam! Now I know Jackass is for real - cause you ain't looking to win an Oscar, dude:)

While some of the things in Haggard are dumb and unnecessary, the overall package is good.

The story is followed and developed surprisingly well, it doesn't wonder off and become an episode of Jackass or Viva La Bam, although it does have a side story which doesn't hurt the main story.
And, for all the Bam fan boys (And girls) there are multiple sequences of Bam skateboarding, perhaps the weakest aspect of the film. Phil makes 2 surprisingly small appearances, even Don Vito got a bigger (but pointless) roll.
If you are hoping to see a comedy and escape Bam's craziness, then stay away from this movie, otherwise, enjoy the time you spend with it, if you can find it. There are some truly funny scenes in this film.

if I had to watch this one more time. I picked it up thinking that it would be funny like Viva La Bam, boy was I mistaken. This has to be the worst movie I've even seen. These boys can't act and Bam isn't much of a skateboarder from what I've seen in the movie. I thought it would never end and when it did, I could have kicked my own ass for wasting 2 hours watching it. The only thing that was even remotely funny was the body bag scene included in the extras. I can't even think of any thing else to write other than DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME. Stick to MTV and Jackass. Oh and Bam, maybe you should include Johnny Knoxville in your next movie. At least he's funny.

The movie was fantastic. If your a fan of Bams' cky videos, jackass, or his show Viva la Bam, you cant help but like it. I have a few friends who aren't fans that enjoyed it, and others who thought it wasn't that great. Those who didn't like it were mostly female friends, they really didn't appreciate some of the crude humor, that personally i think made the movie so funny. I'm pretty sure the entire movie was filmed in Bams home town, which includes a lot of his regularly visited locations. The cast of is made up of all his friends and cky buddies, and also includes some big name pro skateboarders too. The soundtrack is phenomenal, with music by HIM. In my opinion, Haggard has it all. A great plot, characters you'll never see anywhere else. Plenty of humor great music and a cast that was dedicated to the project.

Right from the start, I didn't like any of the characters in this film. It didn't help that the film was a glorified skateboard video.
A brief explanation of my tastes: I love b-films, campy titles, and movies that target my special brand of entertainment. This failed to hit the mark.
While viewing the initial scenes, which had no point, I drew my first assumption. The character being glorified walking on rooftops, skating about, and just being present for no reason was to be the director/writer/actor. Sure enough, it was. The problem with one person doing so much is the lack of outside perspective. This film could have benefited from someone else being the director, writer, or actor than 'Bam'.
The characters in this story are for the most part highly obnoxious and annoying. The lead character is a pathetic 'dumpee' who whines about it for the whole film. There are a string of other players who range in annoyance.
Oddly, one of my favorite characters was the most annoying, played by Raab Himself. He played his part in a very convincing fashion making every scene he was in uncomfortable. I related to the character with a feeling that I kinda wanted to try and help this simple minded kid.
I'm struggling to say something good about this film, a reason why I voted 3 stars and not 1. I can't say exactly, but there were a few things in this film that elevated it from being unwatchable.
What this film made me feel is 'When is this over?'. I wouldn't suggest this film to anyone.

When I first saw this movie I didn't know what to think of it. I thought it could have been better. Later that same day I was at work and the movie was all I thought about. There's so many things going on in the movie that have never really been introduced or haven't been introduced in that shape or form yet in a movie. So after thinking about it I thought it was good, then I watched it for a second time and I liked it better that time then the first time I saw it. The second time you see it you already know about all the ideas floating around in the movie and you can easily enjoy it more the second time. There are some things I dont understand like Bam skating in between some scenes, and Hannah laughing hysterically from the window which some other people may find funny I just didnt get the humor behind it. I give this film 3 out of 5. I think Chris Raab's character really made the movie funny. I'd like to see what Bam's next film would be like if he plans to make another. I would like to see him grow as a director.

Set in Bam Margera's hometown of Westchester PA, 'Haggard' is a semi-true story about the life of Ryan Dunn and his buddies Falcone and Vallo.
Dunn has been dumped by his girlfriend of 2 years, Glauren, who is now seeing a beer swilling, long haired metal head named 'Hellboy' and this is driving Dunn insane with jealousy.
In a desperate attempt to find out the truth about what is going on between Glauren and Hellboy, Dunn pays his friends Vallo and Falcone to break into her house and produce evidence of the affair, with somewhat disastrous results for all concerned! I found this movie very funny, maybe partly because I am a total Jackass and CKY fan, and it has to be said that a lot of the humour will probably be lost on those that do not have prior knowledge of Margera insane brand of 'comedy'.
The movie contains much that will be of interest to skaters, not least the cameo appearance of skateboarding legend, Tony Hawk as a police officer. There are also cameo's from Bucky Lasek, Brandon Novak, Jason Ellis, and Bam's long suffering parents, April and Phil.
The DVD extra's include music video's from CKY (featuring Bam's Brother Jess on drums), and Bam's favourite band, HIM (Bam's character in the movie takes his name from HIM frontman Ville Vallo) There is also a documentary and a "too hot for jackass" skit.
In summary, as I said before, this movie will mainly be of interest to skaters and Jackass/CKY fans, but I do feel that Margera and co have made a great effort with 'Haggard' and I for one, thoroughly enjoyed it.

Haggard the Movie was touted as a spin off come feature film from the Jackass boys. Far from it, the movie dives shamelessly into camera hogging tom foolery which is only funny to the boys making the film.
Ryan Dunn has to deal with his cheating girlfriend and wacky buddies in a series of staged interactions. The girlfriend has taken up with self proclaimed "Hellboy" and proceeds to toy with Ryan's emotions throughout the film. Ryan enlist his friends to spy, prank and generally destruct the girlfriend and Hellboy's life, making for some unfunny and crude scenes involving everything from masturbation to doodie.
Sitting through this movie was pretty painful at times, but taken in context there were a few funny moments. Wouldn't recommend this for anyone who doesn't skateboard or find fecal matter funny. You won't get a lot of the jokes unless you have seen this crap before - no pun intended. If the movie could have stuck with the theme of crazy character sequences with a punch line and depended with the constant Margera vanity shots it might have worked.
Bottom line, don't waste your time. Maddis 3/10

Good Films, But It Could Have Been Better....

Haggard: The Movie is the real life story of Ryan Dunn, and his girlfriend who cheated on him, also with the help from his two friend, 1. A skate boarder who lives for nothing, and, 2. A trying-to-be funny scientist (which doesn't really work) played by Bam Margera and Brandom Dicamillo.
The film Haggard The Movie also has a lot of the characters from Jackass, etc, but to say it was written by Bam Margera and Co. this is a very weak attempt, seems to me like it was written when he was bored, or as a project with they did not pay a lot of attention to.
The films also stars Bam's girlfriend Jennifer Rivell, who plays Glauren, Ryan's girlfriend who basically cheated on him, again very bad acting by Jennifer, another actor that some people may be interested in is Steve a.k.a Hellboy, played by RakeYohn, which his character does not seem to be with the story, again bad acting, also this character does not really have a lot of lines in this film which basically makes it very boring. but worst of all, is Raab's character, the voice sound like a smoker who basically has throat cancer, also i think he could have been improved! Overall i think the characters in this film aren't with the story, like in one scene, it would be on one certain character, a minute later, a different scene, different character.
To say that this is supposed to be a film, sort of a documentary, its not played by the characters as a documentary, the acting makes you think that its a cheap attempt at making a film with your spare time.
Towards the middle of the film we start to lose focus on the main character Ryan Dunn, although a lot of the attention is on Bam and Brandon.
In conclusion this film is OK, if you laugh at things that aren't very funny, stupid stunts, terrible acting and the occasional nude scene!, Also i think there there are too many scenes of just no talking and just music! 7/10

I like CKY and Viva La Bam, so I couldn't resist this when I saw it for £1.99 in Gamestation. It is Bam Magera's debut scripted film, penned by himself and Brandon Dicimaillo, and stars the entire CKY crew (Ryan Dunn, Raab Himself, Rake Yohn, Jenn Rivell, Don Vito etc etc). Brandon also is in charge of the artistic direction - which is one of the film's greatest merits - its quite CKYish in its colour style - but also shows progression.
Basically it follows (very loosely) Ryan Dunn's break up with girlfriend Glauren (played by Jenn). Vilo (played by Bam, named after Vilo Valo by any chance?) and Falcone (Bran) play his best mates who reek havoc by doing various stunts.
Its a bit like the CKY films but with a linear storyline (which is very basic indeed) and poor acting. Its strange, the usually super charsmatic gang seem to have the life sucked out of them when they know what their meant to say next.
The acting and script is pretty appalling for the most part, but the second half of the film is much better than the first (90 mins is a stretch for the flick though), and there are a number of redeeming factors, such as Tony Hawk's cameo, Dicimaillo's sub plots such as 'The Futurstic Invention Awards' and 'The Diamond Bike', the soundtrack is also very strong (its not ALL cKy and HIM - in fact Bomfunk MC's steal the film in terms of its use of music). In the second half of the film the sense of fun is much more real - especially since Don Vito has a fairly prominent role in the latter part - and he seems to steal every scene he is in.
The film will appeal to those who like the CKY antics, but only because of the core material and not the filler or story line bullshit. Oh, and will someone tell Bam that skating montages, especially in films, is sooo 1998.
However, the best part of the package on the DVD is not the film - but the 40 mins 'Making Of' doc.
The last 20 minutes of the documentary deal with Raab Himself's alcholism and the crew's real feelings towards each other amazing candidly (as usual Bam comes across as a bit of a dick, especially towards Raab's drink problem and Ryan Dunn comes across as a really nice down to earth guy). The last ten mins of the documentary deal with a friend (who is an infrequent CKY member) trying to kick heroin whilst staying at the Magera household with the crew - and a caring unitary side of gang (espcially Ape and Ryan) really comes across - a startling gem in an otherwise dull DVD.
For £1.99 I'm very satisified - although I hope Bam stays to the improvised and short skits from now on.

For my debut post I'll talk about my favourite film. Haggard may not have all the style, the glamour or the huge publicity that all films need to get noticed. Instead, it has something different and more pure. The film has life. Everyone who appeared in the film were the direct life and soul of it. People who claim that they know everything about movies will merley look at this as just an off-shot off the Jackass phranagize and I admit I do love the Jackass T.V series but this is not a biased review. Bam Margera who is an inspiration for me, whilst being a good skateboarder and all round clown, I thought he would find the difficult of a first film too much and he would fail. However, I was proved wrong and Haggard shined like a star even though it was surrounded by all the critics who believed that this film was beneath them to review. The film,whilst being course with actor Ryan Dunn "masturbating over his own behind" and Brandon DiCamillo "relieving himself" into a gas tank of a car, the film has heart and style and deserves more recognition. VIVA LA BAM!
