MPAA Rated PG for scary moments, some creature violence and mild language

Sex & Nudity

  • Some mild flirtatious attitude towards young girls from a teacher, but nothing terrible. Said girls blush when he looks their way. Played for comedy.

Violence & Gore

  • Oliver Wood gets hit by a bludger by his broomstick. However he was not seen falling.
  • Students are petrified
  • Harry is repeatedly being chased by a bludger.
  • Ron and Harry are attacked by the whomping willow inside the car.
  • Malfoy falls off his broomstick and hits the ground hard. He is later hospitalized, and he is heard groaning in bed at the infirmary.
  • Draco and Harry are dueling each other. A snake appears, Harry is speaking parseltounge and the kids are backing away from it while Justin Finch-Fletchley stands there looking scared. He's actually telling the snake not to attack him.
  • A house elf repeatedly beats himself and is beaten. (Hitting himself with lamps, Banging his head into dressers, telling Harry he had to Iron his hands, and kicked by his master and goes flying)

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The scene in Knockturn Alley has a unexpected moment: it is very quiet when Harry is examining an item in the shop (the Hand of Glory) and suddenly it grabs Harry's hand with a loud sound effect. This part may make you jump.
  • Scene in the Dark Forest is particularly frightening, especially if you hate spiders.
  • The movie sometimes riffs on horror, with threatening sound effects and music, odd camera shots, frightening creatures and startling action, as well as dark and cold cinematography.

Violence & Gore

  • Harry faces off with a giant snake. A phoenix blinds the snake by scratching out it's eyes. We see the empty sockets spurring blood. Harry stabs the snake through the roof of it's mouth. Some blood is shown. He is also bitten by the snake and pulls a fang out of his arm. Wounds are shown, as well as dripping blood, violent threats of murder are made, we see instances of dead bodies and corpses, as well as gruesome flashbacks on a few occasions We see skeletal remains, and battles with swords occur. Young characters approach death, are possessed and manipulated, and have traumatic nightmares A character attacks another character and describes the death of his parents and the attempted murder of an infant Sticky thematics pertaining to genocide, war, murder, possession and grooming, as well as death, spirituality, and racism/elitism/discrimination Giant spiders attack people, spells are used to blast people, and characters fall from heights Surfaces and characters are seem bloodied and battered

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Ginny is seen in the chamber of secrets lying on the floor looking like she is dead. A young man is taking over the girl's body and makes her write bloody messages.
  • Entire confrontation with The Basilisk (Large Snake) is quite frightening.
