Trivia

(At around eleven minutes) In order to create a realistic image of the floating set of needles knitting in the Burrow, one of the crew coerced his mother to let them film her for several hours as she did her own knitting. See more »

Goofs

In the Whomping Willow, the trunk of the car receives a noticeable gash just above the lock on the trunk as well as a huge dent in the trunk. However just before the trunk pops open to eject Harry and Ron's belongings, it is blatantly apparent that it is not the same car trunk. The gash and dent are both gone, the Ford Anglia nameplate on the right side is gone, the lock is different, the area under the bent fender is different, etc. After the spider escape, though the nameplate is back, the dent and gash are still gone. Crazy Credits

At the end of the credits we see what happened to the amnesia-suffering Professor Gilderoy Lockhart. He has written a book titled "Who Am I?". His moving image on the book's cover wears a straitjacket, and hums the movie's theme tune. See more »

Alternate Versions

To retain a vital anagram in different languages, the full name of Tom M. Riddle has been changed in most non-English versions, sometimes even quite drastically. In German, for instance, his name is Tom Vorlost Riddle (surprisingly close to the original, considering the vastly different language), in Swedish it's Tom Gus Mervolo Dolder, and in Icelandic it's Trevor Delgome(!), which sacrifice the "riddle" wordplay altogether. That bit of magic returns
21 January 2006 | by siitSee all my reviews

The second installment seems to carry on where the first left off. All previous characters return and then some!! The grandiose majesty of Harry Potter continues with new tricks, new delights and little treats that can be taken for granted. At times I find the Harry Potter world has so many wonderful things happening at the same time that you tend to overlook the smaller things (ergos the Weasley's residence and the great Hall) The Chamber of Secrets is a darker tail but is well within the tolerances of most children's ability to handle. The creatures are excellent, the overall story is easy enough to follow, though some aspects have to be explained to younger children.

What does get annoying is that constant overused Daniel Radcliffe cheesy smile. It wears on the sensibilities after a while like sharp finger nails scraping down a blackboard. Overall though, Chamber of Secrets is a solid good natured magical movie only slighter less pleasing than the first.
