I really enjoyed this mini-series and have it on DVD.
This is the story of Dame Nellie Melba (Helen Porter Mitchell) - the Melbourne girl who went on to conquer the world's opera stages from London, Paris, New York, Russia & South America ... and all over!
Whilst Yvonne Kenny's voice is not ideal to be Melba's voice (she is a fine singer though - how wonderful it would have been to have been able to use the voice of Dame Joan Sutherland! :) ) Linda Cropper is a wonderful actress and so many fine performances that take you through the halcyon years of this famous Australian - who was as famous as Sir Donald Bradman - and helped put Australia on the map internationally - especially on the operatic stage.
The five and a half hours pass quickly with high production values and many musical highlights. Take a look at the full cast on IMDb - a great line up of both Australian and international talent.
I recommend this for enjoyable viewing especially if you like a good historical costume drama - based on the real life of a great Australian.
