Storyline

Mark Feinman knows he's going to be big in showbusiness...it's just a matter of time. In a flash of inspiration he decides to tour a Shakespeare play around Europe. Undaunted by his inexperience and lack of organisational skills, he gathers together probably the worst cast of misfits ever assembled. The only thing that unifies Vagabond Theatre Company is that none of them have ever acted in their lives. Their situation is made more painful by the meteoric rise of their rivals, the massively successful, all singing, all dancing (all blonde!) Theatre Company, led by ex-matinee idol Andrew Fontaine. But the arrival of the mysterious and beautiful Anya spurs them on to their London premier at a strip club in Soho, hosted by Magic Bob. After a sublimely disastrous opening in London the young hopefuls flee to Edinburgh and then onto Paris in search of fame, fortune, sexual adventure and a decent meal. Once in the French capital things go from bad to worse resulting in begging, stealing and ... Written by Daniel Bobroff <danielbobroff@hotmail.com>

Weak Acting
18 August 2006 | by musticanSee all my reviews

Beginner's Luck is one of those films which need extra patience. Unfortunately, I didn't have it therefore it was recorded as a film that I couldn't last watching. It's dull locations and dull acting made the film completely unbearable. Whenever I pulled myself together I told myself to keep going you will see something worth watching. Then I realised that I was making all effort to watch the film and nothing was coming from neither cast nor the director to make Beginner's Luck watchable. Some parts of the film is taken by a hand camera and it gives sort of a flashback. Acting is quite weak at least that how I found it. I can include all cast members including Julie Deply. She seemed like she had volunteered to play in a school's end of the year show. If you really want to see it suit yourselves but not an impressive piece of work. * out of *****
