Storyline

Kagome Higurashi is a 15 year old schoolgirl who lives at a history-filled Japanese shrine. She is also the reincarnation of an ancient priestess named Kikyo, who guarded the sacred Shikon no Tama (Jewel of Four Souls), and who sealed away the half-demon Inuyasha who had tried to steal the jewel in order to become a full demon. Kikyo died of her wounds and had the jewel burned with her body. Kagome is one day pulled into the ancient well on her family's shrine and thrown into the past, 50 years after Kikyo's death. She befriends Kaede, the late Kikyo's sister, who realizes Kagome is Kikyo's reincarnation. They are attacked, and learn that Kagome has the Shikon no Tama, but it's actually inside her body! Kagome accidentally awakens the dog-demon Inuyasha, and frees him after the jewel has been ripped from her body. Now Inuyasha wants the jewel back, but Kagome can't let him have it. He is forced (by Kaede's magic) to wear a necklace that allows Kagome to control him with one word, "Sit... Written by Kimberly Milliff <psylock1234@ev1.net>

Trivia

The origins of the Tetsusaiga and the Tensaiga are never explained in a "linear time line" fashion. The combined stories from the original series, the 3rd Inuyasha film and the Final Act tell this story: InuYasha's father InuTaisho possessed the Sword So'unga. (The Sword of Hell) Sometime after acquiring So'unga, InuTaisho had Totosai forge the Tetsusaiga (The Sword of Earth) from one of his own fangs. After the Tetsusaiga was formed, InuTaisho battled and defeated the demon Shishinki, stealing his signature move the Meido Zangetsuha for himself. However unable to fully master the move, the Meido was cast out of the Tetsusaiga and housed by the Tensaiga. (The Sword of Heaven) Before his death, InuTaisho somehow enchanted both the Tetsusaiga and the Tensaiga power to destroy the So'unga, enchanted both swords so that the two could not destroy the other and enchanted the Tetsusaiga to resist the grasp of full-blooded demons. Quotes

Inuyasha: Kagome, let's go.
[Kagome stares at him]
Inuyasha: What?
Kagome: You never said my name before.
Inuyasha: Yeah? What of it?
Kagome: It's just that I think you like me more now is all.
Inuyasha: [turns his back on her] Don't get excited. I still think you're pretty useless.
Kagome: Remind me next time not to save you!
[she hits the sword wound on Inuyasha's back. He howls in pain and falls down, despite having telling her earlier that they didn't hurt]
Kagome: If it hurts so much you should have said something!

A really good anime series
4 July 2002 | by smirre44See all my reviews

At this point my favourite anime series are "Noir (2001)" and Inu Yasha. The story just sucked me in and kept me captive. I highly recommend this anime to everybody. It's full of humour, I just ROFL when Kagome invokes the "sit!" spell on Inu Yasha. :) The rest of the "cast" is also very good.
