In the uncut version of the sex scene, which is almost a minute longer than the theatrical version of that scene, when Halle Berry is riding on Billy Bob Thornton for a second you can see Billy Bob's genitals but not his penis and it looks like their private areas are making contact which very much makes it appear that the two actors were actually having sex onscreen,as it was speculated by a lot of viewers and even rumored to have been so. "Monster's Ball" tells of a white man and a black woman in the rural South coming together through desperate human need; each suffering grief, guilt, remorse, and misery. A slow, plodding drama with rumbling racial undercurrents, the film tells a simple story, though not uneventful, with finely nuanced performances, especially by Berry who earned her keep and kudos. Recommended for mature audiences into serious drama.
