Taraji P. Henson,
In this concept drama, each season takes place within one 24 hour period. Day 1: Jack Bauer is the head of field ops for an elite team of CTU agents who uncover an assassination plot targeting Presidential nominee David Palmer. Meanwhile, Jack's strained marriage to his wife, Teri, is pushed to the brink by the sudden disappearance of their troubled teenage daughter. What will the next 24 hours hold?Written by
Many times Jack and others are seen stealing a car by quickly reaching under the dashboard to yank down some wires and intermittently sparking them together to make the engine start. This is impossible on many levels. Beginning in the mid nineties with the introduction of 2nd generation on board diagnostics (OBD II) all cars have theft protection that requires electronic input from the key or the computer will either shut down the fuel injection or not allow the starter motor to engage. Only a manufacturer's program (or a black market version) through the scan tool connector could bypass this. On an older car you would still have to remove the panel below the steering column (several screws) and even then the wires from the key lock and other controls are tightly molded together in bundles requiring a razor knife to separate and strip them. You would then have to connect constant power to the ignition (distributor or coil pack) and then hold the wire to the starter motor together with power for the entire time the engine needs to crank to start until releasing it, not just arcing it a couple of times. For some of the narrated introductions, Kiefer Sutherland adds "My name is Jack Bauer and (today/this) the longest day of my life." See more »
UK version of episode 2.6 was edited to remove some dialogue about a terrorist recruitment center. Original dialogue is: "You ever hear of the Finsbury Park mosque? It's considered to be one of the main recruitment centers for Islamic terrorists in the west. Our main targets are European Muslims with Western education, passports and the potential to blend into Western society. And do you know, where that mosque is located? Your hometown, London. So tell me Reza, how is my racial profiling going now?" This was changed to: "Our main targets are European Muslims with Western education, passports and the potential to blend into Western society. So tell me Reza, how is my racial profiling going now?" See more »
This show definitely has re-written the book on intelligent and credible suspense on TV. Extremely well acted, written and directed. Truly gripping, heart-stopping suspense from one hour to the next. The show is so well done that you can easily forgive the very few plot devices that seem a little weak. When a show gets 99% of everything right, it's very hard to quibble. Keifer Sutherland has never been better as the flawed hero. "24" deserves to be a model on which all future TV suspense thrillers can be compared to. A+++
