Storyline

When Keitaro was a child, he was friends with a little girl. When the girl had to move away, the two made a promise to meet each other at Tokyo University when they grew up. Years later, Keitaro has failed his entrance exam twice, and his parents refuse to support him any longer. His grandmother gives him refuge and employment as caretaker of her inn, which just happens to serve as a female dormitory. The eclectic group of tenants tease, annoy and berate him to no end. Still, Keitaro won't ever give up his promise to meet his childhood friend again, even though he can't remember her name. Written by Anonymous

Trivia

Onsen Tamago, the turtle, is named after a type of Japanese snack. It consists of eggs that were soft-boiled in a hot spring. The name literally translates to "hot springs eggs". See more »

Goofs

Naru's need for her glasses varies dramatically between episodes. For most of the series she goes without them and has no difficulty at all (and there is no evidence that she uses contact lenses). And during the fireworks display at the festival, she is able to recognize Keitaro without her glasses in the dark, from behind. But earlier, when she and Keitaro both run off and break their glasses, she cannot recognize him without them even at a distance of inches. See more »

Greatest of the modern-day animes!
9 December 2004 | by See all my reviews

You cannot say anything bad about Love Hina without first proving yourself a liar. It's part of one of the greatest modern artforms and is definitely worth buying. The series is, without a word of a lie, one of the most moving, sweet and beautiful series I have ever seen. It has definitely brought many people (myself included) much closer together, which is a testament to its emotional power. It's also one of the most accessible of the new series, being available for the princely sum of £20 (animation) on eBay, or available from many good book shops (in manga form). It's won awards for reasons. I implore anyone reading this to go forth and become a Love Hina fan! Go NOW!! NOW!!!!
