Trivia

The characters from Phoenix Nights first appeared in the pilot episode of That Peter Kay Thing (2000), however the club in that episode was called the Neptune Club, which burnt down at the end of the episode. When Peter Kay was approached to come up with an idea for a sitcom, he brought the characters back feeling that he could expand them and give them more depth and he also gave them a new club. Quotes

Brian Potter: What's the matter with you, man?
Jerry St Clair: What's the matter with me? I'll tell you what's the matter with me. Me first week as licensee, I'm stood here looking like a gay Satan cos somebody sold all me clothes on t'jumble. I've been rolled round t'car park all day dressed as a hernia and I've got 12 people in casualty with rubber burns.
Brian Potter: Rubber Burns? Weren't he a Scottish poet?

Crazy Credits

At the end of each episode, the characters are auditioning real club acts to perform at their fictitious club. The acts are honestly as bad as they are depicted. See more »

Bring this to Canada!
5 September 2003 | by See all my reviews

Just by fluke, I happened to catch an episode of this funny-as-all-hell show while vacationing in the UK. To the powers that be (being the TV station heads here in Canada): please pick up Phoenix Nights, and begin airing episodes here ASAP! This is too funny to miss! And as a plug to Canadian audiences: This could easily be a British companion piece to our "Trailer Park Boys" (except way better!)
