Now I see why it never made it into theatres...
Oh, don't get me wrong, it's an excellent film, really! The story is very touching and the acting is wonderful, especially by the kids (Jake Lloyd, Andrew van Hise and Sheri Dayton). The problem is that it was done so cheap! It's so obvious they ran out of cash in the middle of post-production. The "ghost effect" on Alex (Andy van Hise) is fine, but the sounds and editing are just awful! They open their mouth and the voice comes two seconds late or two seconds too early, and later on the film one of Jake Lloyd's lines is said twice, obviously because of poor editing. So, the story (and acting!) itself is good, but the film is bad. But I suggest you rent it anyway, especially if you like Jake Lloyd!
