Overripe vehicle for Liza with a 'z'
Rather perplexing ABC-TV special featuring Liza Minnelli in three different impersonations, in stories all built around the plot conceit that "Sam...found...out!" The bit with Liza playing a hooker and Ryan O'Neal as her vicious pimp is terrific--very dramatic and gritty. But the romantic segment with Louis Gossett, Jr. and a pet pooch is painfully slack. Liza somehow managed to sneak this special into her tight schedule which had just included two theatrical movies, a TV-movie and a ton of concerts. It doesn't tap into her full-range, as it is supposed to, but at least it gave Liza-watchers something extra to feast on.
