Outlaw Star is based on a 1997 manga series of the same name by Takehiko Ito. That series is, in turn, a spin-off of an earlier parody manga series, also by Ito, called Space Hero Tales ("Uchuu Eiyuu Monogatari," also known in English as "Future-Retro Hero Story"). The Outlaw Star anime series has its own spin-off TV series, Angel Links. See more »

On Cartoon Network's version of "Outlaw Star", references to killing have been redubbed, guns are digitally reanimated as space blasters, sexual innuendo and sexually-inclined lines are toned down or edited out, references to Fred Luo's homosexuality have been cut, nudity is covered up with "digital bikinis" and the episode Hot Springs Planet Tenri has been pulled for nudity and extensive sexual innuendo. light Hearted, Sometimes Slightly Heavy Going anime Masterpiece.
Outlaw Star is on my top 5 list of favourite anime's even though I've only seen like 14 episodes which I have all taped on video due to Toonami having them on at 4 in the morning.
Overall what I've seen is superb this is a fantastic anime, what I like about anime in the adventure genre they always have great characters which you fall in love with, light hearted comedy, great drama and fantastic action sequences (I'm not reffering to every action adventure based anime by the way just most I've seen are like this).
Outlaw Star never gets boring I find myself being able to watch all the episodes I have over and over and never get sick off them.
10 out of 10 (for what I've seen)
P.S This is a longshot but if the boss of Toonami is reading I know a pile off people who would constantly watch your channel if you scraped all the rubbish shows like Teen Titans, Chris Colarado, He-Man The Masters off the Universe, Batman of the Future, Duel Masters, Beyblade etc. and put stuff like Trigun, Tenchi Muyo, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Excel Saga and all the anime classics on.
