This is another 'scare the crap out of our teenager films' from Sid Davis. In order to acquaint you with the notion of 'stranger danger', he paints a VERY grim picture of teens who were raped or murdered because they opened themselves up to assaults because of their own dumb behaviors. You see several recreations including fake babysitter ruses, couples out parking who are abducted and the like--most of which hardly EVER happened in real life. As a retired psychotherapist who worked in the area of sexual assault and other violent crimes, I know that rapes and murders are, by far, most often perpetrated by people you know--not the proverbial stranger. Now I am not saying there wasn't some truth to the film--but it overstated its case, was very dry and square and probably made teens laugh and ignore its message completely. As for me, I liked seeing all the GIANT hairdos and the like! It's good for a laugh but not much more.
