‘Eli’ Trailer: Netflix’s New Horror Movie Is ‘Bubble Boy’ Meets ‘The Conjuring’

It’s October, and that means it’s horror movie season. Netflix is ready to scare your pants off with the streaming platform’s latest original horror movie, “Eli.” Check out the trailer below.

Directed by Ciarán Foy (“Sinister 2”), the film follows Eli (Charlie Shotwell from 2016’s “Captain Fantastic”), an 11-year-old boy with an auto-immune disorder who, sheltered from the dangerous environmental stimuli of the world, is checked into a “clean house” for treatment. But he soon discovers that the house is not just “clean” — it’s haunted. Think “Bubble Boy” meets “The Conjuring.” Similarities to the latter are reinforced by the presence of Lili Taylor (star of “The Conjuring” and the recently canceled Netflix series “Chambers”) in the film’s cast. Kelly Reilly (recently seen in TV’s “Yellowstone”) also stars.

From Netflix, here’s the synopsis: “‘Eli’ is the story of a young boy plagued with an unknown,

Verne Troyer's Death Officially Ruled a Suicide

Verne Troyer's Death Officially Ruled a Suicide
The death of Verne Troyer has officially been ruled a suicide by a Los Angeles County coroner. Verne Troyer passed away in April of this year. He was 49-years old. Troyer was a struggling alcoholic for many years and also dealt with depression. At the time of his death, suicide was rumored, but was never confirmed until now. The coroner says that the actor died from a "sequelae of alcohol intoxication," which means that he drank a lot of alcohol, causing him to be hospitalized for the last three weeks of his life.

At the time of his hospitalization, reports say that Verne Troyer's blood alcohol level was more than triple the .08 limit, which is pretty high, especially considering that he stood at just below 3-feet high. Police rushed to his residence back in April after receiving a call that he was suicidal, which got him into the hospital, where

Critics Pick the New Fall Shows They Want to Succeed — IndieWire Survey

Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of TV critics two questions and publishes the results on Tuesday.

This week’s question: What’s the one new fall or midseason broadcast TV show announced at upfronts that you would like to survive?**

**This is a snap judgment based on anything you like — title, pedigree, star, whether you’ve seen the pilot yet or not.

Between “Parks and Rec,” “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” “The Good Place,” and “The Office”, Mike Schur is as creatively reliable a name as there is in the comedy business right now. “Abby’s” isn’t one of his creations (it’s from “New Girl” and “Superstore” vet Josh Malmuth), but as we’ve also seen with “Master of None,” Schur has excellent taste in what shows to put his stamp on, and both the premise (a young woman runs an unlicensed bar in her

Incredible Fan Art Renders Jake Gyllenhaal As The Mysterio Of Spider-Man: Homecoming 2

Jake Gyllenhaal is within arm’s reach of his first major comic book role. And we couldn’t be more excited.

News broke earlier this week that Gyllenhaal, star of Stronger, Nightcrawler and The Day After Tomorrow, has come into contention to headline Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 as Quentin Beck (Aka Mysterio), where he will presumably star opposite the returning Michael Keaton (Adrian Toomes/The Vulture).

Marvel Studios is yet to announce anything official, so it’d be foolish to rush to conclusions. Still, the mere fact that Jake Gyllenhaal is negotiating for the role is exciting in and of itself – not least because he jumped to the tip-top of Marvel’s wishlist after Ryan Gosling (!) bowed out of the race for Mysterio.

And in order to give budding fans a taste of what’s to come, esteemed concept artist BossLogic has shared his latest piece – an incredible slice of fan art

First Trailer for 'Everything, Everything' Movie with Amandla Stenberg

"I'm messing with your life." "My life is better with you in it." Warner Bros has debuted a trailer for the adaptation Everything, Everything, a drama about a young woman with a disease that keeps her locked up inside her home. She longs for a boy who lives across the street, and of course they try to get together. Amandla Stenberg, who played Rue in the original The Hunger Games (but is all grown up now), stars as Maddy in the film. The cast includes Nick Robinson as the boy she's in love with, Ana de la Reguera, Anika Noni Rose, and Taylor Hickson. It's based on the book by Nicola Yoon. This looks particularly cheesy and sappy, but that makes sense. It's obvious why Warner Bros released this on Valentine's Day - it looks like a mix between Me Before You and The Space Between Us and Bubble Boy,
