Parke Davis' Employees (1899)

The Biograph company made this film, which was clearly influenced by the Lumiere Brothers and how they would just film normal day people. This here, as the title gives away, shows Parke Davis employees as they are leaving the job. Some of them are walking and some of them are on bicycles. Closer to the frame we can also see a policeman there watching over everyone. There's certainly nothing ground-breaking about this film but it's the perfect example of why I love watching movies from this era. Yes, there's no plot but it contains so much more. It contains a chance for people of today to see what life was like in 1899. We get to look at the costumes people were wearing, the type of bikes they were riding and it just gives you a honest look at what people were doing on this certain day in history.
