Therese DePrez, ‘Black Swan’ Production Designer, Dies at 52
Production designer Therese DePrez, best known for her work on “Black Swan,” “Stoker,” and “High Fidelity,” died on Tuesday at her home in New York City. She was 52.

Her friend and collaborator Derrick Kardos shared the news in a Facebook post.

“I’m back with terrible news. We lost Therese today. She leaves behind an incredible body of work, and many grieving friends and family,” Kardos wrote on Tuesday.

Kardos, a graphic artist on “Black Swan,” had created a GoFundMe page in 2016, after DePrez was diagnosed with stage III breast cancer the year before, to help cover some of her medical expenses.

DePrez began her career as a production designer in 1991 on “The Refrigerator” and continued to work until the 2014 crime drama “The Drop,” starring Tom Hardy and James Gandolfini. Mike Flanagan’s Before I Wake Coming to Netflix in the Us on January 5th

Horror fans have been looking forward to seeing Mike Flanagan's Before I Wake since the film was teased in trailers back in 2015, but bankruptcy issues at Relativity Media delayed and ultimately brought the movie's release to a halt. Since that time, Flanagan directed two well-received films for Netflix, and the streaming service has now revealed that they will bring Before I Wake out of film purgatory and into the warm glow of the TV screen.

Netflix revealed the exciting Before I Wake news in their full announcement of titles being added to their streaming lineup in January of 2018. Starring Jacob Tremblay, Thomas Jane, and Kate Bosworth, Before I Wake will be available to watch on the streaming service beginning Friday, January 5th, marking its first official release in the Us (it was previously released internationally, including in the UK by Netflix).

Legendary Entertainment has acquired the rights to longtime bestselling self-help book “Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus,” sources tell Variety.

The plan is develop a feature that appeals to Western sensibilities and to also develop a companion project for the Chinese market. Sources tell Variety that the book has become so popular in China that the author, John Gray, has made trips over the years to teach classes based on its themes.

“Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus: A Practical Guide for Improving Communication and Getting What You Want in Your Relationships” was released in 1992 and became the No. 1 bestselling hardcover book of the 1990s. The book discusses psychological differences between the sexes using the common metaphor that the title describes, that men and women are from different planets.
